the long overdue update

So here's the highlights of the last year+:

August 2009-Moved to Québec
December 11, 2009-Got married (wait, what? Patrick and I eloped in Vermont to get a start on my immigration paperwork. Don't feel left out, we kept it a secret even from our families)
March 4th, 2010-sent off my immigration paperwork
June 26th, 2010-The other marriage in Québec
August 2010-finally started taking French classes (and made friends of my own!)
September 28th, 2010-Officially landed as an Canadian Immigrant
January 2011-Patrick got word that he passed the final test to be a full Urban Planner (its sorta like passing the bar exam)

In the midst of this has been various small trips to vermont, maine, new brunswick, nova scotia, new york state and city. But the big trip is coming up this summer:

We're doing our Working Holiday Visa to Australia! We have to enter Australia sometime before the end of August. We're not sure exactly when we'll be leaving Québec, but it will probably be at the end of June or early July. So far, we're planning on hitchhiking through Canada and down to Kansas City and staying there a couple of weeks. Then we'll probably end up taking amtrak to LA and fly out of LAX. One of the cool things about flights to Australia is that they usually let you have a free stop over somewhere along the way, but it depends on the airline where that will be.

Who knows what we'll do after our year is up in Australia, but at least its good to know for sure that we are going...its been pushed back and pushed back again (the last time was because it gives me an extra semester of French so I'll be fluent when I leave and enables us to not have to deal with breaking our lease--the only way to do that is to find someone to take over, you can't just pay a fee and be done with it!)

so yeah, is anybody out there? :)
