immigration update and others.

A big-ish update:

So yesterday I finally was able to mail in my application for Canadian immigration. I could have done it at least 2 months ago, but I was waiting on my stupid FBI report that took over 10 weeks to get to me.

Its exciting that in 4-9 months I'll be able to permanently live here. Though I'm sure it will be at least 6 months because Quebec has to have their say, and of course charge me an extra 250 dollars to live there. But at least I get 'free' French lessons after that.

I've been making cakes trying to find a good one for the wedding, everything is coming out too dense. I'm going to try some more exotic cakes next and see if it can get any better! Its crazy to think that the wedding is in less than 4 months. I have SO MUCH to do!

A week or so ago, my mom was driving my car when an uninsured SUV hit her and totalled my car (we traded, I have hers in Canada because it had a bigger engine to haul my stuff) We just found out that I'm getting 7,000! I was thinking about selling it and that's probably more than I could have gotten it for. Unfortunately, 2k goes straight to my brother because the whole reason I bought that car in the first place was that I totalled my old car hitting his at a stop light (damn the Nelson-Atkins shuttlecocks for distracting me!) and he paid for a new bumper out of pocket. My mom is keeping another 2.5K to help pay for her new car and supposedly I'll get paid back eventually.

But that leaves 3.5K left to me! I'm going to use 3K to pay more off my student loans and keep the 500 for me. and I got another 500 in tax refunds so I can actually go and buy stuff I need for the wedding: a sewing machine and a nice all-in-one printer for the invitations!

In sad news, my Grampy has kidney cancer and is going in for surgery on Friday. They seem to think they caught it early, but you never know. He just turned 80 on February 26, so he's getting up there in age...
