Another quick one but I had to write this ASAP. I just got back maybe half an hour ago from watching the film "No Country for Old Men." I have to admit, this is the first Coen Brothers movie I've fully watched. I've seen bits and pieces of "Intolerable Cruelty" and although I know they've made some amazing films, I've never watched them. I've wanted to watch "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" and "Fargo" for a lonnnnnnng time. I just never have done it.
Anyway! "No Country for Old Men"--you have to watch it. It was sort of arty but I think the characters just did it for me. And I had NO idea that Javier Bardem was one of the main characters. I knew I'd seen the actor somewhere but I didn't realise who until after the movie and I was shocked. Maybe it's because I've never seen a Javier Bardem movie either.
I'm not big on violence although I can stomach gun violence and blood much better than someone puking on screen. So yes, it is very violent but I expected that. I thought the story was something completely different though, but I didn't mind. It made the movie more interesting. I've gotten better at reading previews about movies and getting the entire plot summary. And of course it always helps to not read the reviews.
So there it is. Watch the movie when you get a chance. The funniest thing for me was watching Kelly MacDonald, a Scottish actress (she's been in "Gosford Park," "Trainspotting," "Nanny McPhee" and a bunch of other British films/TV shows) speaking in a Texan accent. She did it really well but it was still amusing.
And now I'm off because I have an early start tomorrow. Yes.
A good day (or night!) all!
