Sporty weekend

"Americans don't want nil-nil! They want TWENTY POINTS!" -Craig Ferguson on soccer

It has been such a sports-filled weekend. Well, since sports is my life right now, I can't help it. And I don't mind at all but well, it's been a really good sports weekend.
First, the Illini defeated Northwestern and are now tied at the No. 2 spot with Michigan in the Big Ten conference and glory be, Penn State lost to Michigan State this weekend. I was so surprised, mainly because Penn State was leading most of the game. I'm all about surprises, so I don't ever rule out upsets. I guess that's what happens when you're a tennis fan, because in tennis, anything can happen, even if you're the fittest, world's best player.

And going on to tennis, Roger Federer clinched the Tennis Masters Cup for what, the tenth straight year? Haha, not the tenth, but I think this is the third or fourth year in a row. Good on Fed, especially since he lost his first round robin match to Gonzalez. There were doubts if he'd even make it to the final. He beat Rafa en route, which makes me sad, but at least Rafa made it to the semis!

So Illini won, Fed won (though Ferrer, his opponent, played decently. Them Spaniards...easy on the eyes and dangerous on court), Penn State lost and it has been super busy at work. The State soccer and field hockey championships were this weekend, so there was a lot of updating and photo gallery-ing and what not. I think my face might get permanently fixed to the computer monitor.

Let's hope not. I'm going home today to read "Love in the Time of Cholera," so when I watch the movie I can judge how well/not well it interprets the book.

I can't believe the holidays are up at us already. I'm excited just because the holidays give me a warm, fuzzy feeling (apart from the insanity of Xmas shopping). And I'm excited to see friends and family. Hurrah!

And last but not least, the weather today sucks beyond belief. Now I love the song "Sunday morning" by Maroon 5 like anyone else (the song starts out "Sunday morning rain is falling...") and I wish that I could sleep in on such days. I don't even mind not getting to sleep in these days but it isn't even a pleasant rainy day. I think it's one of those cold dizzles but I hear a pitter-patter, which makes me think it might be icy rain. UGH. I hate this damn weather. But, for the sake of not wanting global warming, I shall press on and pretend I'm in a subtropical climate.

Good Sunday all.
