Dear Beaming New Yorkers:
You all can have your sunny weather. You can take your sixty degrees, you can leave your coat at home, you can walk around with your arms extended, thankful for the sun.
Me, I miss November. I want my crackling leaves, my blustery winds, my gray, my drizzle, my overcast, my huddled nightfall, my scarves. Take a nice walk today for me, okay? Enjoy the sun; it does nourish life, after all. Call your friends and sit on a rooftop bar. I'll just sit this one out, thanks.
And then, in a couple of weeks when you start complaining about the weather, I'll take your walking shoes and zip around the boroughs for you. You can stay inside and read, and drink your hot chocolate, and you can watch me through your window. It'll work out better for both of us.
