busy busy bee
wow... my refrigerator door is covered in invitations to wedding showers, baby showers, weddings, etc. the next 3-4 months will be so busy with buying gifts, getting cards, going to these events, etc. how strange it is, when you reach your mid to late twenties, that everyone starts settling down to try to become adults.
it's funny, we went to a housewarming party yesterday. it's so interesting, the way your decorating tastes can be influenced by how your own mother decorated. well, my mom is filipino, so i grew up with the plastic on the lampshades, plastic runners on the carpet everywhere, mismatched furniture, clutter, wooden spoons and forks on the wall, etc. i have reluctantly noticed that my apartment is looking like my mom's house! i would love to have my place look like a page out of westelm.com, or storehouse. well my friend's house was absolutely beautiful, warm, and modern. no clutter at all, very minimal with decorations, but the ones that she had were very high in impact.
i'm still struggling to get rid of the old bachelor pad stuff, old flea market/garage sale stuff that was fine to use in college, and old hnd-me-down stuff from my parents. i don't think we'll really have the kind of look that i want, or be able to have that look until we move out of here and i have a real way to purge us of all this stuff.
