baseball

I know, baseball. A little early, right? Nope. Some of you may know I'm a pretty huge baseball fan--it kinda goes part and parcel with growing up in New York. Now, I'm not sure how many are aware that the World Baseball Classic has been going on for the past few weeks, and by "world" baseball I mean just that--this isn't like the MLB's "world" series which really takes place within one league which technically includes two nations (although Canada is down to one team now--go Blue Jays). So, as a baseball fan I want to know where the sports coverage is on this event? Why aren't the games being shown on ESPN proper or FOX? Why are they being relegated to ESPN2 (when shown live at all)? Why aren't the sports talk shows hyping this tournament more? And it's not like the games haven't been good--they've been fanbloodytastic! And the games have been nearly all sold out! Today, the US got eliminated! And this is supposed to be the national pasttime! Will this spark interest in the tournament? It's going to be held every four years now.

Has anyone else been following the tourney? Can anyone else tell me what local coverage has been like in your area? I'm really disappointed with the way the local and national sports media I've plugged into have been covering this event.
