Governors Join in Creating Regional Pacts on Climate Change Well there's some initiative! If our useless Congress can't get this bill rolling, go states! I really hope this ad campaign works and that governors continue to take matters into their own hands and see to passing legislation in their own states. (This reminds me Californians, what happened to the Governator's charge to put that emissions law we voted in a few years back into effect? Did he manage to start enforcing it despite federal opposition? When I left, this was a key debate point but I haven't heard anything about it since I've been over here.)
One of the things that's really impressed me these months is how much more green conscious England is to the States. Big name businesses including supermarkets and energy companies include and promote many different options to entice consumers to be more green conscious and do their bit for the environment. I say right on! Yes, there are people who still don't give a rip, but if businesses provide greater options and make them more attractive by making them more affordable, consumers will pay attention with their wallets and bank accounts in mind. I really think we have to get out of this "disposable" mentality in the States. But when disposable products are more prevalent on the market, consumers will follow.
Anywho, I thought the flist might find this interesting.
