anyone for a readalong?

Last week, mauvaise_etoile and I were chatting and she suggested I ask the flist about a Jane Austen read-along. Y'all know I'm working on her for my dissertation and with so many Janeites and literature types on the flist it could be quite fun.

What this would be:
  • us reading the novels together and talking about them
  • NOT a break neck pace as, hello, I'm writing and that means I'll be reading more carefully and slowly

    What this won't be:
  • a course on Jane Austen

Obviously, discussion questions will help and I know I've got many that come up for me whenever I read her novels; I'm sure I'm not the only one so please be willing to bring your own. Now, I'm pretty aware of the fact that for some strange reason some people find me intimidating. Honestly, this blows my mind as I really don't see why. Really, I'm a dorky goofball. I'd really like this to be a fun thing; I'm not looking for this to be a clinic on Jane--I'd just like some company while I read her novels again.

We'd start reading next month with Northanger Abbey (I always try to read them in chronological order according to first drafts, not publication dates; see dorky goofball note above). Logistics about a place for discussion will depend on how many people are interested, so more on that later.

So, if you're interested, please comment to this post.
