“Shit.” Greg mumbled as he looked at his watch. He was supposed to pick up Bee from school an hour ago. Usually their housekeeper Rosie did that job, but since they moved and Rosie couldn’t afford to move her entire family Greg was on his own. This meant that he had to remember simple things like packing her lunches and picking her up from school.

“Something wrong?” Foreman asked with a raised eyebrow.

“How familiar are you with the area?” He asked ignoring his question.

“Um not very, just moved here last week.”

Chase strolled in with the labs from pathology and placed them in front of Greg.

“Do you know where the Laila Daye school is?” Greg asked drumming his fingers impatiently on the table.

“Yeah, why?”

“You gotta go pick up my daughter. I’m busy here.” He stood and walked to his office with Chase following.

“What.”

“Just do it, this was in the job requirements. Catering to my every whim.” Chase sighed and reluctantly peeled off his lab coat.

Greg locked himself in his room and immersed himself in his work. He looked over the patient’s file and the various test results that they had run earlier in the day. He was a little happy that Allison hadn’t shown up today. She was more distracting then he let on. Her street clothes clashed distinctly against their white coats and clean slacks. Most of her outfits were skimpy and definitely not the approved work attire. She was probably taking cues from Cuddy, he joked to himself.

The soft pangs of Bee knocking on his glass door caught Greg’s attention. He stood and opened it as she breezed by him in an angry blur of plaid uniform.

“What?” He asked rolling his eyes.

“Thanks for having your assistant come and pick me up.” She mumbled throwing herself on a nearby chair.

“I don’t have an assistant.” Greg replied as he watched Allison float into his office, twirling a set of keys in her hand. She smiled lightly and offered a curt wave to Greg.

“Hi.”

Greg walked to the door of the conference room and found Chase sitting there with Foreman chatting casually. He swung the door open and called to Chase.

“Why didn’t you do as I asked?”

“There was a break through and I thought it was best if I stayed here.” Chase answered looking between House and Allison.

Greg sighed. “So you sent your girlfriend to do it.” He rolled his eyes again and moved back to his office. There he found Bee with her iPod and head phones in her ears as she lounged on his couch.

“Bee.” He began trying to get her attention. “Beatrice.” He said a little louder, she removed the buds and looked up at him.

“What? I asked you not to call me that.”

“Yeah, okay. Look, I’m sorry about that. I shouldn’t have sent one of my employee's girlfriend to pick you up. I thought I was sending my employee to pick you up but he’s an idiot and can’t do anything for himself. Which includes wiping his own ass.”

“Whatever Dad it’s cool.” She said with a shake of her head. Bee released a heavy sigh as the corners of her mouth relinquished a tiny smile. “Allison’s nice anyway. Her brother is Mr. Cameron from Manhattan. Did you know that?”

“Small world.”

“Anyway, she said that I should demand that you take me out to dinner. An apology dinner.”

“Fine. Give me a couple of hours and we’ll head downtown.” He walked back to his desk, looking back at Bee as she removed a book from her backpack and began to read.

The pair finally left his office around six. It was the latest he had been at work for a long time. Greg usually liked to book it right after 3:30 but find himself swamped with pointless paperwork that he had put off long enough. What he needed was a third fellow to do all of the menial tasks. Check his mail, decline he consults. He’d tell Wilson in the morning and set up a few more interviews.

Bee picked an overpriced sushi restaurant that promised fresh fish from the virgin springs of some exotic country. Greg groaned and told her the meal was coming out of her college tuition fund.

“I wish I could have changed into regular clothes.” Bee complained tugging on her peter pan styled collar.

“I wish you would have picked a pricier place, oh wait….”

“Ha ha.” She said opening her menu. “I talked to mom today.” Greg looked up and then back at his menu. “She’s good, they’ve finally gotten settled into their new place. Wants me to come up for the weekend.”

Greg nodded and fiddled with his chopsticks. “You should go. Haven’t seen her in a long time.”

“I told her I couldn’t, not yet at least. We haven’t even settled in. It would be completely irresponsible of me to leave you in that big house by yourself.” She took a sip of her coke. “You might kill yourself trying to work the oven

He scoffed. “I haven’t used an oven in twenty years, why bother now?” Bee laughed catching the faint signs of a smile on her father’s always sullen face.

They ordered their rolls and ate vigorously. After fried ice cream, Greg payed the bill and they made their way to the door.

“Greg.” He turned to find Allison standing in front of him. Greg’s eyes swept her form, she was dressed in simple wide leg dress pants and a white puffed sleeve blouse. Her hair was pulled back in a simple ponytail with a a pink barrette. She looked good.

“What are you doing here?” Greg asked. Bee approached the pair and handed her father his blazer.

“Having dinner with Robert. Hi Bee.”

“Hey Allison.”

“I see you took my advice.” Allison nodded, stuffing her hands in her pockets.

“You recommended this place?”

“Yeah that’s how I knew to go here.” Bee said shrugging on her coat. It seemed as if Allison kept popping up places. His office, dinners with his daughter, and into his team’s differentials.

“That’s really sweet of you Greg, to take the time to have dinner with your daughter.” She smiled sweetly just as Chase joined them.

“Oh, House.” He said anxiously. “Right I forgot that you knew Allison.”

“He changed my diaper once.” She exclaimed curling an arm around Chase’s bicep.

“Aw gosh.” Greg mumbled and covered his eyes in embarrassment.

“Come on Dad, I need to finish my homework.” Bee steered her father towards the exit. “Goodnight guys.”

When they reached the parking lot Greg released a solid breath. “They’re an odd couple.” Bee commented.

Greg looked back and nodded his agreement.
