Jumblies (My headvoice is particularly strong at the moment.)

1. The Jumblies are a people who come from the blue desert beyond the sea. They live in the desert in burrows and eat primarily rodents and insects and anything else they can scavenge, catch or hunt. However they also engage in trade with the peoples from the lands beyond the desert. Mostly the Jumblies trade the glass bottles they make from the sand and sculpt into beautiful things, for foods that they cannot get themselves. They also make the dehydrated alcohol which is so prized in the lands beyond the desert because the Jumblies, living in the desert as they do, are hydrophobes.

2. In appearance they are between six and nine inches high usually, and their skin is scaled, a dappled blue colour, camoflaging well with the shifting sands of the desert. Their hair is wild and windswept, and is a ranging, natural green in colour, and although there are variations amongst the group they all retain these basic colours. In the party that set out across the sea there are approximately thirty and although they do not look identical you could not pick out one from the others with any degree of accuracy. I am unsure as to whether they speak as a gestalt or have a single spokes-Jumblie, but they do not use the word 'I' in general, although the Jumblies themselves converse and can tell one another apart, they feel no need to distinguish to others.
Any party that leaves the burrow must be made up of more than thirty, whether they are exploring, hunting or trading, it would be foolish for any less to go. Jumblies are hydrophobes, able to repel water with their thoughts, which is why they fashion sailing vessels from old sieves. They are much more affectively hydrophobic when the threat of the water is higher, and so trade procured them several old sieves which they converted into boats. The flotilla was tied together so that they would only need to have one concentrating hydrophobe per boat and one to steer the whole thing, and they could work in shifts.
The Jumblies do not wear clothing. There would be no point, as it would conceal nothing. The private life of the Jumblies is very private indeed.

3. The Jumblies are fast, curious, mischievious, calculating, good at climbing, interested in learning, slightly fey, reptilian, carnivorous, friendly, fiercly protective, fond of dehydrated alcohol, fascinated by high places, amusingly willful, devious when it is called for, loyal, explorers that have such changable natures that they can fight one minute and pull pranks the next. They love to trade because it means they get better food and they do not have to expend so much energy to get it, and means that they can spend more time laughing with one another, which they also love to do.
If you can get a Jumblie on its own it will probably chatter excitedly to you and then challenge you to either a drinking contest or a contest to see how many cherry pips you can hit someone across the room with. Possibly both.

I have a huge collection of personal canon about these guys at the moment, and if you want to know how much of the rest of it matches your headvoices of them, poke me on msn and we'll trade ideas.
