this meme has become my crack.

The same meme over and over and over again.  Because it's good practice, tbh.

1  "Risky Business" by The Cab

Carla walked across the university's campus, her hands stuffed in her pockets and her shoulders slightly shrugged to keep the wind from creeping inside her coat.  She nodded her head in time with the music on her iPod, and sang along softly to herself, smiling slightly at the way her breath formed little clouds in front of her as she walked.  She tried singing a little louder and contorting her lips, just to see if she could make the frozen puffs of her breaths come out in the form of tiny musical notes.  It was pointless and silly, but it made her smile even more brightly.

2  "Let Go (Frou Frou cover)" by Boys Like Girls

The fire pit  near the end of the backyard was burning brightly, and Carla could feel the heat warming her bare arms all the way on her family's back deck.  Her brother was animatedly entertaining their friends behind the flames, and Carla was fairly certain that their laughter could be heard all the way down the street.  She smiled - nothing made her happier than seeing her family and friends having a good time.
"Your brother's a jackass, you know," came a voice to her left.  She turned to find Skylar grinning at her, but, knowing him inside and out, she could tell it wasn't genuine.

"He's just having a good time," she answered, slipping an arm around her best friend's waist.  "Why aren't you down there with them?"

Skylar shrugged.  "Too hot."

Carla could tell he wasn't being entirely truthful.

3  "My Philosophy" by Holiday Parade

Whenever they went on trips, they let Eric drive, in spite of Ory's protests that he was blind as a bat and shouldn't be allowed behind the wheel of a two-ton piece of metal.  But Eric was both careful and speedy, and the agreement always was that when he drove, he was not allowed to touch the radio.  Every window and both sunroofs were open and the summer sun shined into the SUV, bathing the passengers in its warm rays.

4  "High Hopes In Velvet Ropes" by The Cab

Things Oriel Zola didn't know about his girlfriend (who, until recently, had simply been his pleasantly plump best friend's sister):

One - Carla Montague could move.
Two - Carla Montague had a very sexy side.
Three - Both of these were seriously fucking awesome.

"Uh.  I kind of think Eric would kill me if he knew what you were doing right now, Cheesecake." Ory laughed nervously, watching Carla shake her hips gracefully as she slowly stripped off her t-shirt.

"Why?" she asked, her thumbs finding her belt loops and pulling down ever so slightly.  "It's your birthday.  You don't think he's going to get the same sort of present on his from Tai?"

5  "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat

It was stupid, really.  It was a stupid thing to do, to kiss Monty on his birthday.  But Tai had been drunk, and so had Monty, and anyway, she'd wanted to do that since he'd become friends with her brother almost five years ago.  She couldn't help falling in love with him, either, and she hated that everyone kept telling her she only felt this way because she was fifteen and had a crush.  Yes, she knew she was young, but dammit, she'd told her mother she was going to marry Monty the first day he'd set foot in their house, and she still believed it with her whole heart.

6  "Apache (Jump On It!)" by the Sugarhill Gang

Typically, when the guys smoked up, they got mellow and ate a lot of pizza.  When they got drunk, they got silly and made gay jokes and talked about sleeping with each other's mothers.

When they were drunk and high, that's when things got interesting.

Tobey had his school tie wrapped around his head like a bandanna and was twirling his belt, halfway out of the loops on his jeans, in what was supposed to be a sexy manner as he shook his hips from atop the coffee table.  Ory was laughing hard, his wide smile and big, white teeth looking ridiculous.  Tobey thrust his hips a few times, then froze, staring at Ory, suddenly serious.

"Dude.  You look like a donkey.  A ... a jackass!"

"Oh my god you are a jackass!" Monty boggled, then promptly was consumed by a fit of hysterical giggles, even though he didn't get why it was so funny.

"Suck my pineapples, both of you!" Ory said, still laughing, and punched Tobey in the crotch.

7  "My Baby Shot Me Down (Bang, Bang)" by Nancy Sinatra

Monty strummed his guitar sadly and slowly, letting the pick hit each string individually.

"Eric," Caspar whined from behind his book.  "Stop playing that crap."

"This is the sound of heartache!" Monty answered his roommate forlornly, and continued playing.

8  "The Beach"  by All Time Low

Carla ran across the sand, the football clutched tightly to her bikini'd chest and her crimson and orange hair flying crazily behind her.  Ory quickly caught up to her and scooped her into his arms, and Carla let out a gleeful squeal.  Tai shouted for her to pass the ball, so Carla awkwardly lobbed it in her direction, but Monty dove out of nowhere and caught it, tumbling into the sand.  Trevor laughed, yelling, "Intercepted!" and then smiled at his boyfriend, Skylar, who sat dressed in black in the shade of the group's umbrella, reading a book.

9  "Lighthouse" by The Hush Sound

Carla sniffled as she watched her two best friends embrace, the empty liquor bottle on the floor and the white bandages on Skylar's wrists jarring evidence of the brothers' emotional struggles.

"I'm sorry!" Bas cried into Sky's shoulder.  "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm such a bad brother, I'm just a fuck-up, I don't deserve to be your brother, and I don't deserve Sonny or Lala!"

Sky tried to sooth his younger brother.  "Stop it.  Don't say that.  You're the best brother, Bassy, I promise.  I'm the one that doesn't deserve you."  He shot an apologetic, tear-streaked look to Carla.  "And I don't deserve Lala either."

10  "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by The Beach Boys

Monty twirled Tai around on the dance floor, his heart fluttering at the way her hair and her dress fanned out with every spin.  She was finally eighteen, and this was her senior prom, but the sentiment behind the song still rang true.  Monty, four years older, had always struggled with their peers' views on their relationship, but as she beamed up at him, looking more beautiful than he'd ever seen her, he didn't care.  He pulled her in close, swaying with her, and she giggled, "Hi, Eric!"

He kissed her cheek.  "Tai, baby," he pulled back to smile at her.  "I'd marry you right now, no questions asked."
