=D I'm taking an elective course this semester (Korean Culture and Society) and I'm doing a research paper on hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) so I'd really really appreciate it if you guys on my flist can help me out by answering this short questionaire ;w; Thank you in advance!
(
Questionaire here! )
GENDER : Female
1. Have you heard of the word hanbok before previously?
YES
2. If your answer for #1 is YES : Where did you first encounter the word hanbok?
Others (please state) TV. I was watching a wedding show where they had a traditional Korean wedding. They talked a bit about the hanbok.
3. What was your first impression of the hanbok?
I thought it was interesting, but seemed a bit hindering movement-wise.
4. What do you think about the future of the hanbok in the modern world of today?
It'll probably continue to be made, but it'd be more for formal events/special occasions, like weddings and the sort.
5. Given a chance, would you be willing to learn to dress in hanbok?
YES (Sure, why not?)
6. If your answer for #5 is NO, please state the reason.
7. Do you think that :
wearing traditional attire is too troublesome and unsuitable for modern life [ Depends on what the person themselves feel. For me, I don't care either way, it's not really my style, but I know some who'd love to dress in traditional attire everyday.]
traditional attire can be restyled to be incorporated into modern life [ OF COURSE! Fashion is ALWAYS evolving. We're seeing famous designers pull inspirations from the history textbooks, and fashioning them in a different way so that they're somewhat "new" but still inspired from traditional. ]
8. In your opinion, does traditional attire gives a certain society a sense of unity and togetherness? (e.g. kimono for the Japanese community, qipao for the Chinese community)
Depending on how you read it, I'd say that it wouldn't necessarily UNITE the entire community, but it might give a sense of identity and pride that you wouldn't get otherwise. *shrug* It's all dependent.
