Big D'OH on the spoiler front! *blush* I'm usually so very anal about these things - I just didn't think in the heat of the moment. (Possibly because it's all over the flist uncut, but that should not hinder me wrt to my own standards.) Thanks for pointing it out!
I have to say that I've not really thought about it in terms of the story, or anywhere beyond 'David's leaving, and I think this is a good point in time, and I'm glad there's a clean break', really. But then I'm not really sure if I still care, you know? I don't think I really do, after JE. The show was about the Doctor and Rose for me, first and foremost, and JE broke that for me; so much that right after, I didn't even want to watch the specials. And now I view them as a parting gift, and I still trust Russell to get it right. (I do so more after reading all the stuff about his issues with JE in his book.) Might not be happy, but I hope it will fit within the story he's been telling. He might still surprise us all.
Christ, I so agree with everything you've said. Alright, so maybe I did cry a little bit but I think it's a good thing that he's leaving at the end of the specials. Moffat can do what the hell he wants and I won't have to watch it just because of David Tennant. I just really, really, really hope RTD doesn't mess up his regeneration. It has the potential to be really amazing... done right.
Agree. I think reading The Writer's Tale has really helped as well. I think he will fully do it justice, and (I don't know if you've read the book) he's already worked out what Ten's last words are going to be, so he's obviously being careful and giving the whole thing a lot of thought which is comforting.

Oooh, I didn't know that! I've only had the chance to read excerpts from the book, which mostly related to the Doctor and Rose and Russell beating himself up over that whole storyline, the poor sod. But that has helped me personally immensely, as well, because it reassured me that we were still on the same page of the story after all. (I still really want to write a post about my JE issues and put them in relation to what he's said about it, but it will probably EPIC and very much tl;dr, which is putting me off a bit.
Anyway, that is a really comforting thought. I don't think that Russell's planned out every single step of the way (he's often enough admitted he hasn't), but I do think he's always had a general plan of where he wants the Doctor to end up, so it's good to get that confirmed. :-)

Exactly. And it would have been so odd to watch him being the puppet of an entirely different team! It just wouldn't have felt right.
I don't know why I do, but I still trust Russell. Maybe he'll even be able to fix the JE trauma a teeny tiny little bit. Here's hoping!
