This episode really put me through the motions. It made me laugh, and it made me cry, and it made me scream, several times.
I just... wow. It's like the show takes what it's built up over four years and then uses it to tell a story! Amazing, isn't it? Seriously, though. This is exactly why DW has made me believe in television again. Continuity makes me happy, and this was pretty much the wet dream of continuity fairies everywhere.
This is the episode that should have me squeeing about Rose, and I am, but so much more is about Donna. Donna Noble, the most important person in all of creation. See, after every episode, I think, okay, it's really not possible for me to love Donna any more than this. And then the next episode comes along, and I do. I love her so much. She dies. She willingly dies because she knows it's the right thing to do. That look on her face, as she lies there on the ground, before Rose appears... that look shattered my heart into a million pieces. Catherine Tate, you win.
I love the Doctor and Donna together so, so much. Just their joy at being with each other, traveling together... I love them. And she saved him, in so many ways. She really did. The moment I fell utterly, irrevocably in love with Donna Noble was when she tells the Doctor that he can stop now in The Runaway Bride. And the show took that moment and made it be the most significant moment in its history after Doomsday, because if she hadn't been there to stop him, the Doctor would have committed suicide. Because he lost the one thing that mattered to him. Because he lost Rose. But Donna saved him, in so many ways. This show is just fucking amazing, is what it is.
And then... Bad Wolf. I screamed, and I flailed, and then I screamed some more at the telly. Bad Wolf, everywhere, even on the TARDIS. I wanted Rose's return to be connected to Bad Wolf Rose so much, and then it happened.
And then the trailer. OMFG. Gwen, and Ianto, and Luke! And Jack is holding Ianto, and... this will just be The Best Finale Ever, won't it? Seriously, guys. It will just be So Damned Good. (And was that a Dale cackling evilly at the end? Hah!)
