A [Action: 1248 Williams Road]

[She woke up in her 'own' Mayfield bed after the madness of Bombfield, and -- freaked out a little, okay? There might've been some crying in the shower, but you know what? Roxanne isn't letting anybody see how weirded out and scared she is in this town. Not her ( Read more... )

Well, seeing people just soak up information - however vague or misinterpreted it is - is a plus in Diana's book. Yet, she knows that Mayfield likes to sugarcoat things to make it as if you really want to live here your entire life.

And that is something she certainly does not want to do. So, Diana approaches Roxanne over where the newspapers are and clears her throat in a polite manner to get her attention.

"Excuse me, but I couldn't help but notice what you're doing. Could I be of any assistance, perhaps?"

Who knows, perhaps Roxanne could be a valuable ally to her.

Roxanne straightens up, blinking at Diana; she doesn't recognize her, but offers her a little smile.

"Just-- keeping up on current events," she says, still uncertain of who to trust and who she can't. But Diana doesn't come off like a drone, so...

Diana nods to Roxanne, her own expression tight-lipped and business-like. She wasn't feeling all too friendly due to what recently happened, but at least she's sort of learning to let things go.

"Mm, well - Mayfield has a way to make you think that there's nothing on the outside world you need to concern yourself with. They want you to think that Mayfield is all you need and that's that. So, I'd... try to do something else," she states, hoping that was enough to convince Roxanne that she wasn't a drone.

"...ah," she said, straightening. Yes, Diana's not a drone. Roxanne relaxes in inches, still not entirely comfortable -- but this was better than a drone.

Besides, Roxanne tended to see the best in everyone... Mayfield just made that a little stressful, was all.

"It's still good to know how they write, how they present their-- non-information," she says. "That's what I'm looking at."

Bless you for that, Roxanne. Diana listens to what she says before giving a nod. It seems as if she picked up on what she was planning to do - and quite honestly, she approved to some degree.

"Are you thinking of emulating it, then? And providing us an accurate news source?" she challenges, the smirk creeping up on her lips in the process.

"Well, if we're to get anything out without it vanishing, becoming censored, or otherwise blowing back on residents... Learning the language would be important," Roxanne replied. "It'd take some work to make sure people got the way to 'decode' it,but..."

Well, after the bomb, she thinks it's very important that people know what Mayfield can do.

"I'm sorry; I'm Roxanne Ritchi."

Diana lets Roxanne talk out her idea before nodding in agreement. How nice it was to meet someone with that kind of genius, she thinks to herself.

"Well, if you'd like, I could offer my assistance here and there," she says with a slight shrug.

"As for me, I'm Diana Ethelbert, Miss Ritchi. It's a pleasure to meet someone like-minded around here."

Distracted from the offer, Roxanne remembered that name.

"You don't know Megamind, do you?" she asked. There was certainly a chance that she was a different Diana, but Roxanne thought it might be unlikely.

Diana looks puzzled for a couple of moments before nodding.

"Big blue head, paranoid about being touched and has a need to be a villain? If that's your Megamind, then yes - I do," she replies with a slight smile. It seems that she has a fairly positive opinion about him, despite their differences that they've had.

"I take it you know of him, then."

One thing in that description sticks in her mind: paranoid about being touched. Funny, he's-- not that paranoid with... her...

... welp that makes seeing him later today a bit... awkward, doesn't it? Things to think on. Maybe.

"Sounds about right," she replies. "We're from the same world, yes."

Well, it sort of makes her happy to know that Megamind wasn't truly alone in his world. But...

"How is he like in your world? Is it any different than what he does here or not?"

pluckyreporter December 5 2011, 18:23:47 UTC
"...totally different," she says. For one thing he hasn't tried to take over Mayfield. "He's a lot...calmer, for a start." And he hasn't kidnapped her yet. But there's no point, there's no Metro Man. And he doesn't have what he has back home...

Yeah, this makes seeing him today something to really think about.

...hm. Now that was interesting to note. Still, she can't help but give in to her curiosity and to sate it even more.

"So, he's not as jumpy, is more collected, things like that? I guess you really do have to not judge someone like they're a book..."

"It's really hard to explain without getting... personal," Roxanne says, lips twisting. Then she realizes how that sounds and says, "But-- not personal with us. That's-- uh."

That just complicated everything, didn't it?

Ah, so it was one of those things. Still, it didn't mean that she wasn't going to at least pursue her curiosity that much more.

"...So, are you two in a relationship of some kind?"

Blunt, wasn't she?

Oh the look Diana is getting right now. There is just no politic way to answer that, is there? If she blurts out NO it's like he's something icky, if she tries to beg it off it sounds like they're keeping it under wraps, and she can't say yes because it isn't true.

But all she can remember is him accusing her of wanting to know who his friends were, so she could tell them how bad he was. She couldn't explain the hostage situation, because... it'd reveal everything, and put him on the spot.

"We've known each other a long time, and our-- we're not--" digging that grave deeper, Roxanne, "-- it's complicated. But it's, ah, we're not -- involved. Really."
