Cut for the disinterested

*mimes death* *sad face* *sad face in agreement* *taps PBs symbol invitingly?* *Runs* - sometimes words aren’t required.
“Dammit we wrote these laws too well, I would have had a loophole I could use under the old version.”
“So do you come from the on fire bit, or the under water bit?”
“Dear Spoony, I’s been a good little urchin and I’s only been caught once or twice so please cans you look after me?”
“I was initially chasing him because we thought he was killing people in Lantia, but when I found out that he was actually just poisoning pompous gits on Du Pre for shits and giggles I just felt like ‘Aaw! I can’t stay mad at you!’”
“Basically, if the ref hasn’t declared you dead then you’re now perfectly healthy.” (I love Total Heal)
“That makes us even then.” “Call it one-all.”
“Do you like the bunting? Isn’t it lovely.”
“That council guy of yours, that guy’s an arsehole.” “I couldn’t possibly comment.” “That arsehole - sorry, that gentleman…” “I said I could not comment but please, you are free to.”
“I don’t care who you are, it’s half eight at night and if this isn’t life or death then you do not get to talk to Her Grace until she’s had some lunch!”
"Is he coming?" "It's Karma. You'll know if he's coming when he's there."
“He’s into drinking, having a laugh and poisoning people.”
“Your Grace, if I should fall in your defence... promise me you’ll find out what’s going on with the flowerpots.”
“I guess that makes it your job to heal the vampire then. And I totally did not just say that.”
"Hands in the air everyone." "But I wasn't doing a transport rite!" "No, but I was."
“I’ve only ever met one man before that I’ve seen act like that and, well, I married him for it. So I want to help you.”
“I’m a werewolf, and so’s my wife!”
“How was your date?” “Pretty good, I made a tal.”
“Steve!”
“There’s three dragons that they’re trying to smush together. Two of them want to be smushed and so we’re going to bash the third one till he wants smushed instead.”
“Did that work?... Ref, did the cure fatal work?... Ref! REF, is he still petrified?...REF!?.....” “Sid?” “I CAN’T COME NOW I’M WAITING FOR A REF CALL!” “Huh, what?”
“I think in all probability Webley is dead. We need to go and tell Gaius it’s ok.”
“I’m fine, I was using my angry walk.” “What’s an angry walk?” *demonstrates* *flinches*
“Did the Dragons do the thing?” “They did the thing. Well they said we could go home anyway, so I’m assuming they did the thing.” “What was the thing?” “I dunno. It was a thing.” “I see.”

HOTS:
- More sheriffs! More keen sheriffs! Great to see Arya and Sam being so involved and I’m sorry I couldn’t find any real crime for you guys to get stuck into. I’m sure someone will get horribly murdered sooner or later for your convenience. :-)
- Scout’s guild! I still can’t quite believe how welcome I am there and how much fun I’m finding it just hanging around with them. It’s like the healer’s guild of the mid-90s, except slightly more open about the dodgy stuff. I’m still surprised to find a home for my kind of character there, given my outlook and light tags.
- Likewise, the zodiac plot. The roleplaying from Pisces and Aquarius was amazing and Sid’s attitude on the plot has turned around from being something she’s vaguely interested in and felt she could help a bit with, to something she’s actively pursuing and is emotionally involved with.
- Always having someone to talk to in the Lions camp. I know that sounds silly but all of Sid’s friends even from just last year are either dead or on hiatus and so I was a bit nervous of being on my own a lot, but I seem to making new friends as I go.
- I hadn’t been on a linear at a main event in around 6 years, and then found myself on two in one day. The Lions one was well organised, battle ready and then completely non combat and just a bit creepy which was quite interesting, while the Scouts was a nice desperately urgent grab-the-nearest-people-and-go style which also worked well.
- The loos were always clean and useable, which was a huge improvement.
- I hadn’t really had anything at all planned except for one vague thing that needed done at one point so I’d been worried that I’d be at a loose end, but there was so much going on that I barely got to stop for a moment.
- Saturday night in the command tent.
- Having someone approach me with a problem and knowing just the solution to offer for fun and plot advancement.
- Mixing cocktails in advance rather than mixing at the event. It makes it so much easier to offer hospitality, or to pass round a skull full of alcohol in the command tent.
- Mastering the angry walk. I don’t think Sid will ever be able to look terrifying in an “I will fatal-petrify-murder-waste you in one swing” kind of way, but I clearly managed “I will ruin your day in a loud and potentially terrifying way” sufficiently to walk across the battlefield without being hit several times.

NOTS:
- The marshalling and the safety in the final fight. There were a lot of doughnuts and crush lines forming due to the fear factor of the calls and the number of mass fears going off (seriously, what kind of idiot monster looks at a crush line and decides that the best thing to throw at it is a Mass Fear?) there wasn’t enough yellow to deal with the number of petrifications going out, and several seemed unclear or un-alert about what was going on. After asking a marshall four times for information on a life or death situation I ended up screaming at a fellow player who was trying to get my attention, and that really wasn’t fair. I also screamed at the marshal who told me that it was unsafe for me to be kneeling in a crush pile with two huge guys leaning back on my arms as I frantically supported them to protect my head - as if I was doing this through choice - but that seemed a more legitimate frustration.
- Confusion over my research request - I got an apology from the research team that it wasn’t completed yet, but according to the scouts plot team they hadn’t been contacted over it yet either. So I ended up having to blag it a lot to cover why I’d not come up with any answers.
- Sir Ector’s death/Matt stepping down as NPC.
- Minor niggle but when the big bad is someone striding around a battlefield looking badass with red and yellow facepaint, could it not be someone who’s famous, recently deceased character used to stride around a battlefield looking badass with red and yellow facepaint? I know Brian’s a great monster and you can’t really phys rep an angry dragon the size of a mountain range, but this is one instance where I feel that some more costuming could have worked better to avoid confusion.
