Hate is actually better than pity.
Now, when I say hate, I mean true hate. I don't mean the concept of fearing something so much that you lash out at it which is what most people mistake as hate but that true viseral quality that says "I know you, the depth of you, and I loathe you to the core of my being." True hate, by its very nature, means that you really and completely know and understand your enemy.
Pity, on the other hand, is proof that you have no idea who the other person is. You look at a person and the first thing that you do is say to yourself "I am better than them." Yes, you may not say those exact words but that is the foundation of the emotion. Followed by "I can help you because I know what to do." When you understand someone and their position you actually are feeling empathy and saying "Jeez, that sucks and I know how you feel." If they ask for your help then you can actually say that you know what might work because it worked for you and you are on equal footing.
So I would rather hate someone than feel pity because then I would truely care about them.
Keep your fucking religious piety and lofty pity to your God-Damned self and grow up.
