So, work's been interesting the past week or two.
Why? Oh, see, I go on vacation, then I get back and the place has gone to hell in a hand basket.
There were like 700.00 in sales over the ten day period (the average day is supposed to be a little less than 500.00 - we sell expensive software.) The place was constantly closed early, or opened late; both of which equal fines from the airport/mall management company.
Also HQ finally made the choice to close out booth, but the location manager didn't tell anyone but the loudmouthed bint who caused like half the issues & who should have never been hired. Now I'm back and starting to average 500.00 a day in sales again, but I get to hear about the drama from none other than everyone but my location or district managers.
Neither have said a word to me, and when I ask via e-mail & voice mail, I get vague replies that say nothing but that it was a hard choice. However, I want dates, I need a hardcopy confirmation, and I'm wondering why no one said anything before.
Two stores have hired me, one as soon as they heard; the other pushed an application and promises of better pay on me as soon as they saw me at work. It's nice to know that I have jobs waiting for me, but still... My job wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't the worst, and until now, I would have said that my managers like me & treated me well. However, this is just too much especially with me ending up pulling two consecutive days of double shifts over the last two days.
But it's over soon, the end of the month is the most definitive date I've heard, and I learned a lot with this job, made connections, and am another step closer to figuring out what makes a good boss.
My list so far->
1. Organization
2. Tact
3. Common sense
4. Knowledge of the area
5. Knowledge of the company/job
6. CLEAR & PRECISE COMMUNICATIONS WITH ALL!!!
7. THE ABILITY TO LISTEN WHEN OTHERS GIVE ADVICE!!!
8. AN UNDERSTANDING OF HUMAN NATURE!!!
The last three are things that my managers right now, don't seem to have. In addition, I've never worked for any one who is as bad of a judge of people as my location manager. Not to mention, three people who worked with one of my co-worker's in the past told her about the girl's issues with timeliness and the way she just doesn't show up for work.
Guess what one of the reasons I worked 4 consecutive shifts this week was?
Yeah, she didn't show up & when I called, it went straight to voice mail. This girl's biggest gripe was that she had bills to pay and b/c she had complete availability she expected 40hrs a week... My location manager gave her those hours & she was constantly late, or she closed early, or she never showed.
She's also asked me to be a reference for her....
I haven't told her either way yet. Nevertheless, I do know that hiring her was the final nail in the coffin & that she is the reason I'm losing this job even though I'm damned good at it. I'm so tempted to say yes & to tell her next employer the truth about her work ethic.
God I dislike her so much right now, her & my managers.
