Challenge: Why didn't you say something?
Word Limit: 173
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Details: Poetry, recounting a time in which neither of us said anything.

You could have said something.
Saved me from myself.
I watched as your eyes thought,
As they weighed the pros,
As they weighed the cons.
I waited for you to say something,
Anything,
That might have said you cared.
That you loved me,
That we would never be apart.
What was it that you feared?
Rejection.

I should have said something.
Asked you why,
Confronted you as to why
You must only look.
Why you only watch,
Am I some portrait?
A far better dream than your reality?
Scoffing,
There is only one thing I fear.
Acceptance.

Our eyes met.
Someone should have said something.
I tried.
At once you looked away.
I know I wasn’t waiting,
Not for you.
Still,
I smiled,
I laughed,
I cheered,
For You

We passed each other,
Again,
Always again.
Why didn’t you say something?
Save me from myself,
You could have given me faith.
Hope,
A dream to live for.
I said nothing.
I wasn’t waiting.
Not for you.
Still I smiled.
What was your excuse?

Not quite what I had planned, but whatever. XD I think it works?
