Inaugural Thoughts
- There’s a great picture of W and Bubba where W’s smiling wide and Clinton’s smiling, but looking at W like, “if we were alone, I’d fucking sock you in the nose.” But Clinton would use his “I feel your pain” voice.
- W hugged Obama like Barack had just rescued him.
- The senior Bushes and the Clintons stopped to talk to each other for a while in the hallway before heading out to the dais. My bet on what H.W. was saying to Bubba: “I can’t believe you beat me with Arsenio Hall.”
- When Aretha Franklin came on the screen, I thought, “that is a giant bow on her head.” Then she sang. Do you think she wore the bow to challenge the viewers? “I can sing so well, by the end, you won’t even care that I look like a giant soulful Christmas present.”
- The Inauguration of Barack Obama: featuring Dick Cheney as The Penguin.
- Right about now, the back of the crowd is hearing the beginning of Obama’s speech.
- “[nu-klee-ar]” It’s back, baby.
Hollywood Thoughts
- Marisa Tomei has 3 Oscar Nominations. Isn’t it about time to let the whole “My Cousin Vinnie” thing go?
- Robert Downey, Jr. got an Oscar nod for playing a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude. Also in the movie: Ben Stiller being not funny.
- Who does Christopher Walken do impressions of? Is it someone more people impersonate, like Ed Sullivan or Jack Nicholson? Or is it someone really obscure, like F. Murray Abraham?
