I haven't posted in about ten years it seems like. My hands are always so full with work and Lydia and Curtis and all the Mom/part time homemaker stuff.

Lydia had her first birthday on Wed (it was my 26th on the same day) and I swear she gained a screamy hardheaded toddler mentality overnight. On Thursday she started screaming when she didn't get what she wanted. I'm handling it better than I did when Curtis went through that phase - it really just seems kind of funny now, especially when she's screaming one second and laying her head on my chest the next saying "Awwwww."

Curtis is doing REALLY well in school (well, except for the talking every waking moment). He's reading like a little pro and just devours his books. He is sooo sweet. We were at church on Sunday and afterward one of the aides at school walked up and told us that Curtis had come up to her one day and told her that she looked really pretty in her red dress, and that she smelled good too. The aide (I can't remember her name) said that she'll never forget that. Tee hee, my boy's a real charmer!

There is so much to do now that fall is here. I need to turn our garden (which was demolished by the deer this year) and I need to build a new compost bin (one that will keep the raccoons out), and I need to tell our stupid trashy neighbors to keep their frickin' garbage out of our yard. I understand that this is a single woman raising her granddaughter, but honestly how hard is it to put a lid on the trash can? I've told her that I'm right next door and if she ever needs help to just let me know. But I worry that if I just did it without her asking me that she would come to expect it and I would be stuck cleaning up her shit until either we move or she moves.
