I enjoy long hair too. I find it mysterious and alluring, since it prevents us guys from seeing all of a lady's face and neck.

Any drastic cutting I have noticed tend to happen for the same reason: marriage. Female friends and acquaintances who marry seem to lop quite a few inches. Some kind of 'I'm off the market' signal.
