Ohhhhh yeeeeeah

I get so behind on my journaling. But I want to document this stuff so I can read back over it later and go, "Oh yeah, that was fun. ^_^"

Beach weekend was AWESOME. (Aug. 14-17)

Thursday night, I managed to convince Lety and Athena to join me at Tir Na Nog to see The Future Kings of Nowhere. Carrie joined us too. I had nummy Irish food (a potato pancake, lol) and got to hear rockin music and get hit on by drunk dancing guys. LOL.

So, Shayne is still a cutie. Carrie noted that he squats like Liam. LOL. But other than that, they unfortunately don't resemble each other. Well, I dunno how unfortunate that is, since they're both handsome. Whatever.

I bought a CD from Shayne... I felt silly, I felt I should reintroduce myself. "Hey, remember me? We worked together for like a month?" But there were other people waiting to buy stuff and I never really got another opportunity. -shrug- Oh well.

All the gals said they would like to hear them play again, so we'll see how it goes.

Then on Friday night, Lety and I set out towards the beach! It starts some torrential downpour. And Lety (who already is not comfortable with driving at night) starts getting nervous and does some inward flipping out. And she wasn't even driving! I was! lol It didn't bother me too much, we were on the highway by then. My phone started ringing and she practically snatched it away from me so I wouldn't be tempted to answer it.

It had stopped raining by the time we got to Jacksonville, or perhaps we just moved away from the storm.

We met John at his mom's place, and met his mom as well (who is super cool, BTW). After we unloaded our stuff, John navigated Lety and I to a diner. When he got off work, John's brother Bob met us at the diner. Bob, too, is cool people.

After we nommed for awhile, we all headed back to the house and we all sat in the kitchen talking until the wee hours of the morning. I made friends with Lola the Pug. Lety managed to give me more than one palm-face moments. She either (1) needs to get a thought-to-audio filter or (2) has some anger issues she needs to get over. I blame her father. I'd punch him in the face if I had the chance.

The next day, Kevin joined us from Boone. While we were waiting for him to arrive, John attacked the yard with some shears. They have the most baller back yard! My dad would be so jealous. :P

When Kevin got in, we made a trip to K-Mart, then headed out to the beach. Lety and Kevin chatted in the back, Bob and I chatted in the front, and John tagged along on his bike.

The beach was very nice! We were afraid it might be blah from the rain, but it was not bad at all. The water was a little cold before your body acclimated, but, again, not bad. I got to play in the waves! Yay!!! It had been way too long.

After awhile, Lety wanted to just walk down the beach, and I joined her. I pitched a bunch of shells back into the ocean (and my arm hurt the next day to show for it), and I showed Lety how to skip stones on the water. After we made our way back, she made a sand castle type thing. Pretty spiffy, complete with sacrificial altar. :P

Later on, we hit the waves again. Chatting and lawls were had by all.

At one point, John and Bob were chilling on the beach. Lety notices them and makes some comment like, "I don't understand the whole 'brother' thing." I almost sassed her with a comment like, "WTF, you have a sister. What's not to get?" But Kevin responded before I did. He said something like, "There as close as two heterosexual males can possibly be." Lety responded, "What about like a dad?" He said, "Just as close to each other as they were to their dad. Maybe even more so now." And we all looked towards the shore at them. Made me wonder what it would be like to have a sister closer to my age. I mean, I consider Lety my Mexican sister, but I didn't grow up with her. I wonder who I would be, how I would be different. Hmmmz.

After awhile, we headed back to Jacksonville. The guys went to the grocery store to get goods for the grilling. Lety napped and I hung out with Ms. Patti and Lola. When the guys returned, it was realized that the buns were forgotten and someone would have to go back and get them. John looks at me and says, "You wanna ride with?" Um, HECK YES I do! He didn't have a passenger seat, but Kevin did. So Kevin agreed to drive me. LOL, it was really superfluous. But I got to ride on a motorcycle so I don't care! John lent me his leather jacket and I somehow got a helmet on my head and we were off!

So we got to the store, John ran in to get the buns and Kevin learned that I was a Comp Sci person. I love shocking people. :P

So Bob did a wonderful job with the burgers. A friend of theirs came over and nommed with us. I forget his name, I didn't see much of him after Pride and Prejudice started. Yes, Lety learned that the latest version of Pride and Prejudice was playing that night and insisted that we watch it. *groan* The book was better. Anyway, Kevin stayed and watched with pleasure. Bob was in and out. John and friend disappeared into the kitchen.

I did learn one thing that night: the Aylward boys like hair clippies. LOL I let me hair down and Bob grabs the clippy, inspects it, puts it in his hair, and continues watching the movie. Later on, John comes in the room. People start giggling and he's got the hair clippy, clipped to his crotch, standing there, Superman style. LOL

So I'll keep that in mind for Christmas. :P

The next day, Sunday, John and Kevin headed back to their respective homes. Lety and I were going to head back to the beach that day, get a hotel that night, then head back on Monday. However, we were both pretty beat and we didn't officially find a hotel to stay at and there were no assumptions that we could find a cheap, convenient one. So we just headed out as well.

We stopped at IHOP for breakfast, then drove to Smithfield for the outlet mails.

We both found little black dresses for like $13 bucks! AND I got a pair of freakin knee-length cargo shorts, with TWO cargo pockets. Yes, I got it from the men's department. No, I don't really give a flying flip. :P When we got back to Raleigh, we were still in vacation mode and decided to treat ourselves as such. So we went out for sushi at Little Tokyo (<333) and went to see Tropic Thunder in the theater.

Robert Downey Jr. was freakin brilliant. If Heath Ledger doesn't steal that Oscar, Robert Downey Jr. better freakin get it.

I love how he's better at being a black guy than he is as an Australian. -snortle-

And thus, fun weekend. I made some new friends out of it and finally got to play in the waves. Life is good.
