oh well

So... I never did finish writing about my graduation. And I don't know if/when it will ever get done, so I'll just post what I've got.

I'm posting from my apartment! I am a college graduate! Oh my bob, that is so cool. No more homework! (For a few months anyway.) Oh my bob, I should read something that's not required! I think I'll start with Sense and Sensibility. Aunt Claire bought that for me a year or so ago for my birthday and I STILL haven't finished reading it. Shoot, I don't think I've finished the first 5 chapters.

I had such a good time this weekend. Busy, to be sure. But awesome. I'm so glad my family got to come in. I wish we had more time together, but they're all leaving early tomorrow morning.

Well, Tuesday wasn't really the weekend. But exams were done and I suggested we go out to Playmaker's and do karaoke. Let me see if I can remember who all came: Caroline, Genny, Maria, Laura, Becca Lee, Jennifer, Stacey, Breeanne, Terrin, Jannae, Leslie, Jackie, Lauren, Avianna, and various other random people. Some left early, but I think everyone had a good time. I was told several times what an awesome idea it was to go karaokeing. ^_^ Thanks, glad yall enjoyed it. :D

The first load of family arrived on Friday. My grandmother, Nana, her sister, my great aunt Mary, her husband, my great uncle Vernon, my cousin, Sarah, my cousin once removed, (whom I call) Aunt Angela, and my second cousin, Laura, were the first to arrive. They got in in the evening and we all went to Jason's Deli for dinner. I feel bad for Laura, Sarah, and Uncle Vernon. Sounds like they had to put up with a lot of isht from the rest of the carload. But I love the whole bunch of them. On Saturday, Daddy drove them around UNC, as Laura is interested in going there for grad school. That'd be flippin awesome. While they did that, I packed up isht that was left in my room. I officially am not fond of packing. Do you know that I have moved 10 freaking times in the past 4 years? It's ridiculous! Praise God that we have a 1 year lease on this apartment!

omb, wtf. Someone is getting towed as I type. Glad it's not me. But... there are no parking permits or anything for this apartment... So why would they be towing someone? Okay, that makes me nervous.

On Saturday afternoon, we had Class Day. Oh the freakin traditions of Meredith. And I am so pissed at myself for not being more prepared!!! UGH. Once in a lifetime event and I don't live it up because I'm a tard.

Okay, so on Class Day, the senior class (us) dresses up in all white. And because we're an odd class ('07), we wear a black glove on our left hand. Back in the winter, I had found these spiffy black gloves that I bought specifically for Class Day. Well, Class Day rolls around, and I about ready to head out to meet my class, and I realize that my spiffy gloves are at the apartment! And I'm in my dorm room. Fortunately, Karen let me borrow her right glove and I just wore it on my left hand. But it wasn't my spiffy glove. :( And THEN, I get there and some girls are fanning themselves and I remembered that I also want to bring my pretty white Venetian lace fan that I actually brought from Venice. Sure, it was a souvenir, but how cool to actually be able to use it!? Guess where it is. Back at my apartment. :( Again.

On Class Day, the sophomore class (our lil sisses) wake up in the wee hours in the morning to gather ivy and daisies to make 2 HUGE daisy chains. They process into the Class Day ceremonies carrying the daisy chains, one on each side of the amphitheater. At the end of the Class Day ceremonies, they form it into a huge 07 on the amphitheater "island" (Really, it's more like a semi-peninsula.) Then we proceed to rush the daisy chains and rip them to shreds. Why? I have no idea. It's rather sadistic if you ask me, but hey, "it's a tradition." -shrug- *HOWEVER*. It was raining. And thundering. So we couldn't do it outside in the amphitheater. So the sophomores couldn't process in with the daisy chains, and furthermore, they had to remain standing during the entire ceremony. :( Sorry, gals. So, Grace reading our class history was cool. The ridiculous amounts of annoying singing: not cool. Ho hum, I'm kind of tired and grumpy so maybe my recounts are jaded. Laura and Aunt Angela came, as did Jackie and the girls, and of course Daddy. I really didn't think Jackie would come. I was kind of embarrassed when they talked about Mother/Daughter Tea. Cuz, we didn't go. I didn't even mention it to her. I don't *really* know why... You know, besides the normal isht. And the ticket was like $60. But anyway, after the ceremony, it was still raining and thundering, so we couldn't tear apart the daisy chains. Plus, it was DOWNPOURING. Afterwards, we were supposed to go to the rotunda to take a class picture. So Athena and I think maybe Jackie all run under my umbrella to Johnson, getting good and wet in the process. Them more than me, since I was actually holding the umbrella. The moment we step into Johnson, the electricity goes out. So, no class picture. So Angela and I run back to Jones to figure out what my family is doing. In transit to Jones, I spy my family running under umbrellas to the car. I run with Angela into the building, then run out to the car. I try to ask them what the deal is, where we're going for dinner and all that jazz, but it was pouring, isht was chaotic, I couldn't hear anything. So I tell them I'll just call them and make my way back to Jones. As I'm walking back, this huge bolt of lightening crack and startles the snot out of me. (Aunt Angela INSISTS that it nearly killed me. I'm pretty sure she's over exaggerating.) I promptly close my umbrella and proceed to get *drenched* as I make my way to some sheltered area. In my white get up, no less.

When I finally make it to my door, the electricity's out and the flood lights are on. (A nice touch, I liked the ambiance. :P ) Before I make it to my Samara spots me and asks me if I'd seen her chair. Ummmmmm... random? Perhaps she did not notice that I was soaking wet and had not been inside for long. She proceeds to start crying and tell me how her antique chair, over 100 years old, was stolen. She left it by the elevator under some blankets to move some other stuff. She got caught in the rain and when she got back, the blankets were there and her chair was gone. I just kind of stood there for a few minutes, like, Ummmm, how exactly can I help you in this situation? I lead her to the RA on duty. I guess that worked.

I then changed clothes and went to the Marriott were my family was staying. Nana, Aunt Mary, and Uncle Vernon didn't go to the Class Day ceremonies, they went to mass instead. That's cool, I don't mind. I wish I didn't have to miss church for graduation. But by the time I got over there, mass had been over for awhile and they still weren't back yet. We tried calling, no response. Finally, we leave, figuring we'd just get dinner without them. We pas by the hotel bar downstairs, and they're in there, having some drinks! WTF, they didn't even call us. According to Sarah and Laura, all three of them have turned into quite the lushes since Pawpaw died.... Umm, I'm thinking that's not good.

Rabbit trail. Gosh dangit. Jackie was right when she said this day was bittersweet. I want my momma. I want HER to say that she's proud of me instead of people saying, "Your momma would be proud." Almost 8 years. Geez, when I'm 24/25, I will have spent half of my life without my momma. I'm too young for this nonsense. And THEN. My Pawpaw's gone. Do you know that he couldn't go to Moma's wedding? There was something wrong with his back and he had to be in the hospital. Uncle Mark gave Moma away instead. In the wedding album, there are pictures of Moma visiting Pawpaw in the hospital with her wedding dress on. Pawpaw couldn't be at Moma's wedding, I really wanted him to be at my wedding. Psh. Yeah, that's assuming I ever find this person that I'm supposed to be with...

Okay, this is getting depressing. I'm tired, plus I have a lot of junk I need to move of my bed before I can go to sleep.

I'll try to finish later.

So that's as far as I got.

When I got all my stuff into the apartment, I was going through my cards and such that I got and I see this fuzzy thing fly across the floor. I was like WTF!!! But it was a chinchilla. It paused for a moment so I could see something besides a blur of fur. And he was about the cutest thing on this planet. Then he zoomed back into Athena's room. I have no idea how he got out of the cage! I suggested that Athena name him Houdini. I've started calling him that, anyway. I joined him in Athena's room and shut us both in. It took awhile for me to coax him back into the cage. During that time, I bonded with the other chinchilla, the big one that apparently cannot squeeze out from the cage. I found a "natural, high fiber treat" and probably gave him too much, but he was chowing down on it and was so derned cute. I determined that this chinchilla was too good for the generic Bob name. I haven't decided what to call him. I guess I'll go with whatever Athena comes up with. Since, you know, it is her chinchilla and all. While me and Mr. Muncher were chilling, the little escaped chinchilla does acrobatics around the room, pulling some Matrix moves. No joke either. He would take off running, come to an obstacle and RUN UP ON THE WALL. Totally a la Trinity. Little psycho rodent. Houdini definitely suits him. He eventually got close enough for me to grab him. After a brief struggle, I shoved him back in the cage. I hope I didn't squeeze him too much or anything, because after I locked him back in the cage, he started seriously moping around. I couldn't tell if he was dead tired after running around the room like a little maniac, if I had squeezed his insides while trying to put him back in the cage, or if he was just depressed for being caught and put back in the cage. I tried to give Houdini some "natural, high-fiber treat" but he was being all emo about it. Mr. Muncher, on the other hand, was like, "HAAAAYYY!!" lol. Oh well. So I bonded with the chinchillas a bit. THEY'RE SO CUTE! I'll have to take pictures at some point.

OH MY BOB. AARON GOT A MYSPACE. I about had a spaz attack when I saw that friend request. I wasn't even sure it was him at first, he looks SOOOO different. HE NEEDS TO FREAKIN COME VISIT MORE OFTEN SO I CAN FREAKIN RECOGNIZE HIM WHEN I ACTUALLY FREAKIN SEE HIM. :( I miss Aaron. Gosh darnit.
