Who: Adora Cain and Eliot Spencer When: a few hours after the meeting with Jack Where: Room 306 What: Now that the cast is off, Adora's first goal is to show Eliot
"Oh, I'm glad to hear that," she nodded. Adora stared at him for a moment, then blinked and looked away. She picked the pencil up again and glanced at him again. Her fingers started twirling the pencil, but as the muscles in her hand were still rather stiff, she winced and put the pencil back down.
Another moment of silence and Adora couldn't think of anything to say. So, she looked back to the message and started searching for the buttons to send the message to Aeryn.
Things seemed awkward. Eliot was usually smoother than this, but maybe he was out of practice. Of course, this wasn't ideal conditions for romance, either.
He watched her work on the message a while, then spoke up. "You ever ride a horse? The hotel has stables here."
[She could! He never refuses a kiss from a beautiful woman!]
Adora smiled slightly, thankful for a break in the odd silence she'd created, and turned her head toward him. "No," she replied, shaking her head slightly. "Not by choice, anyway." She had been hauled onto a horse against her will, a few times, though.
Not by choice? Odd answer. He shrugged a little and nodded. "I do. My first job was assisting a trainer at a racehorse stable. I haven't done much riding recently, but I used to be pretty good at it."
Of course, if she'd been forced onto a horse before, she probably wasn't interested in riding now. Hmmm. He needed a new idea.
"They're beautiful animals," she mused, smiling at the wall for a moment. "Hard-working, loyal... tall," she added a moment later, trying not to smile.
Glancing at Eliot, she shrugged slightly and winced. "My husband used to make me get on a horse with him, trying to get me over my... dislike of heights." Adora smiled again, remembering some of the fights.
"Once, I had to get on a horse, by myself. I was terrified.. more of the horse, I think. But, I was in such a panic that I didn't think about the heights until after we were off. Took three people to get me off the horse when I arrived." She laughed at the memory.
"I was going to offer a ride if you were interested, but I don't want to do that if you're afraid of horses. No sense in making it worse." He gave an apologetic look and a shrug. "I have a car, but that's considerable less interesting, around here. Can't go far from the grounds."
"It's really more afraid of falling off," Adora admitted. she gave him another smile and shrugged. "After everything that's happened the last few... days?" she guessed, realizing she didn't even know how long it had been since Eliot found her wandering in the desert.
"I think I could give it a try," she nodded, trying not to imagine riding with him, his arms holding her in place.
Clearing her throat, Adora shook her head slightly and the nodded. "I saw a car in Central once. Mostly, out in the Guilds, we see trucks. Or horses and wagons."
"If you'd like to, sure. I'd be happy to take you out sometime. I've taught a few people how to ride." He flashed her a smile, trying not to think of how dirty a spin he could put on that if he wanted to. He was supposed to be a gentleman, here!
"Or in the car, if you'd prefer. Or both. Seems like we've got plenty of free time here."
"Both sound.." Adora trailed off, trying to think of the right word. She smiled and glanced sideways at Eliot, then nodded. "I think I would like that. Both.. either." She wondered, for a moment, how awkward things would be if she kissed him, then and there.
"May I ask you a question? Um," she winced, "another question."
"How old are you?" she asked simply. It was a rather personal question, of course, but she just couldn't tell. He looked young enough to be Jeb's age, but had clearly lived enough to be closer to hers.
Adora smiled. "It's your birthday? Soon, I mean? Well," she turned to look at the screen, "I need to get myself back into the swing of things, and make you birthday meal."
She looked back to Eliot, eyes narrowed slightly, as if the look might actually intimidate him. "How many days do I have?"
[Brain freeze over here.. Sorry! Also, I see today is CKs birthday! \O/ ]
"Yep. Three days from now." Generally, he didn't do much to celebrate it, but if she wanted to have dinner with him then he'd happily make an exception this year. Any excuse was a good one. "You don't have to go to a lot of trouble, though."
[No problem! Yep, I don't know when Eliot birthday's supposed to be in canon, so I just stole CK's. And since time moves so wonky at the hotel, I just said 'three days' arbitrarily. I can change it to longer/shorter if you'd like.]
Adora made a face and smiled. "Never tell a mother not to go to trouble for a birthday. I' mean," she winced, then shook her head. "Not that I'm trying to be your mother, of course. That would be.. strange." Especially with some of the thoughts her mind was coming up with. "Um.. what I meant is.. it's no trouble."
She raised a hand and looked away. "No pressure, no pushing. If you don't want..." She looked back and gave him a smile. "I don't want to make you uncomfortable." She nodded sharply. If he said no fuss, she would make no fuss.
Well, she might make a little fuss.
[No trouble here. I get all excited every time I see his name, simply because I know who he is. LOL Well, I know CK from Angel.. but, he's now Eliot, in my head, first. :D]
Eliot laughed and held up a hand. He wasn't uncomfortable with the idea. Just didn't want her to feel like she had to do something for him. "If you want to make a fuss, fuss all you want. I just don't want you to feel obligated because I mentioned the birthday. I never turn down attention from a beautiful woman."
[I saw him first in Leverage, so he'll always be Eliot to me. :D I did go back and watch Angel because of him, though!]

[she really wants to kiss him <3]
