Who: Aeryn Sun (and open)
When: Mid-afternoon
Where: hotel grounds & eventually inside
What: Aeryn's arrival
Who knew silence would be this deafening? She’d been in her prowler for two days after leaving Moya and her friends behind. Leaving Crichton -no, John- behind. She had no idea where she was going, she’d just … left. The command carrier had been destroyed, Scorpius was hopefully dead; they had won their battle.
But their losses were devastating. Her John; Moya’s son, Talyn; his pilot and her - in the end - dear friend, Crais. John had been the first. Aeryn closed her eyes to tears that threatened. She’d thought she was finished with the emotions.
She had watched Moya leave her son’s remains at the Leviathans' sacred burial grounds, and realized she could not stay and watch anyone else die. Especially the other John. Aeryn sighed and moved a hand over her abdomen. She had recently gotten confirmation of what she’d suspected and was unsure, in the wake of the recent days, how to react.
Her scanner beeped and Aeryn refocused her attention on the prowler. “What’s this?” she said automatically to the ship. She could see something on the long-range sensors. “Can you give me an idea of what that might be?” When a moment’s silence gave her no response, she realized what she’d done. “I’m talking to my frelling ship.” She pressed a button on the scanner to tighten the search on whatever it was that tripped the alarm. She raised her eyebrows as she looked out the portal “You’re cracking up, Aeryn.”
About an arn later, she found the planet that had tripped her sensor. “That’s strange,” she muttered with furrowed brows. There were only a few life signs on an entire planet. She was able to get a good look at it outside the front port. It was blue, green and looked perfectly habitable. She checked the atmospheric readings, just in case, and found it to be breathable.
Out of sheer boredom and curiosity, she changed her course and turned toward the planet to land her prowler. She was able to find a wide clearing. Then she saw it again. And again. “What an odd world. What would you think of this, John?” It was as if the planet was made up of the same plot of land. Now, she really was curious.
Aeryn expertly brought her prowler down for a landing and, with a quick double check of the atmosphere, opened the hatch and stepped out of the ship. Automatically, she checked the pulse pistol holstered at her hip and started walking towards the large building she’d seen as she landed.
