Reluctantly Billy released Martha's hand, setting it gently on the bed and watching to see if the knock and call would wake it. Predictably, it failed, and he crossed over to the door, opening it.

"Sam?" he asked when he opened it- the name along with the face seemed familiar. "She's on the bed," he said, stepping aside to let him in- yes, that was it, the guy who he'd met at the cafe... one of his less graceful moments.

Handy didn't see Billy's message until Sam was already at the door. He hurried to the door of his own room, not even bothering to put shoes on, and opened it just in time to see two men in Martha's doorway. He barely remembered to shut the door behind him as he strode across the hall.

"I'm the Doctor," he said before either of them might ask. "I'm Martha's friend. What happened?"

Hovering uncertainly between the two, torn between going back to Martha to make sure no one hurt her and staying to make sure this new comer wasn't a threat, Billy answered their identical questions, "We were in the hall and we tripped and now she's all passed out and in pain and did anyone bring drugs?" he asked, looking to Sam seeing as Sam was the one who Martha first sent the message to.

Other than drugs he wasn't quite sure how he'd be able to help Martha- he just knew he wasn't going to be leaving her.

"Can you help her?" he asked anxiously, wringing his hands together.

"You tripped?" asked Handy, confused. "As in both of you - oh, never mind -" It was enough to know that Martha had fallen - onto her broken ribs, presumably. He pushed past Billy (or at least tried), anxious to get to the bed and see her for himself.

Technically, Martha had started tripping into him, and then Billy tripped into her, and they fell with Martha in the... most inconvenient position. But he felt like explaining that would not get him exactly what he wanted at the moment- which was medical attention for Martha. And he wasn't keen on leaving her side either.

"She re-fractured them," Billy nodded, letting the new guy pass him and following closely behind him. "That's what she said. And she wanted ice and blankets. Or, well, I got the blankets for her... is she going to be okay? Can you guys actually do anything to help?" he asked, feeling flustered, which always made him a bit blunt and frank.

Too bad for all of them that Handy wasn't really that kind of doctor. He went straight to Martha's side and checked her breathing, first off. "Stupid, stupid," he muttered under his breath. Not that he'd call her stupid to her face - but why had she refused to take it easy? And why hadn't he kept a better eye on her?

"There's not much we can do about broken ribs," he admitted. "Not that I know of. We need to make sure they're only fractured - if she has bone splinters loose in there, that's worse news."

"She mentioned something about medicine," Billy supplied, trying to be helpful. "I don't... she's passed out," he pointed out, though it was rather obvious that was what had happened. "Should we move her? Last time I did it really hurt..." Maybe the should move her now before she wakes up, so she wouldn't have to feel it. "Are there x-rays in the infirmary? We could take an x-ray and then... you can do your doctor things," he said hopefully.

The front of the bed was crowded so he went to Martha's feet, putting his hand on her shin- he was sure not to hurt her more there. "I don't know how to operate on living people," he muttered mostly to himself, frowning at her fragile state.

Handy took a deep, uneasy sniff of breath, letting it out in a sigh as he considered their options and the potential consequences. "If we move her, we risk making things a lot worse," he commented. "But we need to get an x-ray - otherwise there's no way of knowing how bad it already is. I'm assuming it's a twenty-first century model - too big to bring up here?"

He directed that question at Sam, since he seemed to know about the equipment in the infirmary.

"If it's not..." Billy trailed off, his mind turning with possibilities and theories. "I might be able to build an x-ray machine we can use. I mean, the fundamental idea of it is basic enough- it would take a couple hours to find everything I need," if the Hotel decided to be nice and actually let him find the stuff he needed, "But if we can't move the x-ray machine..."

He looked to Sam as well, realizing that the things he was trailing off about weren't pertinent, and only applied if the x-ray machine wasn't what (or, more importantly, where) they needed it to be.

"Why don't we get the one we already have?" suggested Handy just a little dryly. "You can help me hook it back up when we get it here."

He gave a little nod, and reluctantly stepped away from the bed. "Someone needs to stay with her," he said. "The other two can get the machine."

"I'm staying here," Billy said instantly, ready to argue about it if he needed to. "I told her I wouldn't leave... you guys go get the x-ray and I'll stay here," he nodded determinedly, not sure whether or not they would actually listen to him.

"It's not that hard," he shrugged off Sam's praise, "Just need to know about what it does and... make other things do that." And hopefully be more intelligent than he'd just sounded.
