I apologize... she might in fact be going into shock. notrosesshadow November 2 2011, 02:48:13 UTC
She listened to him, paying as much attention as she could. "Shooting is bad," she agreed. She felt he was telling her something important, but she couldn't grasp it through the pain.

Billy turned around on the bed to look at her properly. "Martha, are you okay?" he asked, knowing it was a useless question. But she looked a little foggy, and he decided to get up and find a blanket for her even if she hadn't said she wanted one.

"Um, where are you from?" he asked as he went to the closet, opening it and staring at it for a moment before diving in. "Do you have family? Where did you study- what did you study? Martha?"

He was asking her questions. Lots of questions. Something about studying. And where she lived. When would the pain stop? "London. A doctor. Medical... doctor." she said, thinking that they would answer some of the questions he answered. She hoped.

There was the edge of something fleecy up high and he reached for it. It brought down a couple other things that he kicked to the back of the closet, and he shook out the soft blanket as he came back.

Frowning at the sight of her he draped the blanket carefully across her, from feet to neck, slightly awkward because he'd never actually done this before.

"Where did you specialize?" he asked, smoothing out the edge as he returned to his perch on the edge of the bed. He was legitimately concerned now, and hopefully whoever it was would come soon.

"A student," she gasped. "At Royal Hope..." Why did this hurt more this time than it did last time she broke her ribs? ""Elevate my feet," she suddenly commanded.

"Feet?" Billy asked, thinking this was still part of the explaining bit. But then he realized she didn't specialize in elevating feet but wanted her feet to be elevated and he moved to go do so, pulling a pillow from the side of the bed she wasn't using.

"Careful," he said as he lifted her legs up with the blanket, gently, pushing the pillow under them. "More?" he asked, feeling like the one pillow just wasn't cutting it.

"Mmmhmm" she murmured. "You have pretty eyes," she added with a smile. "I'm not supposed to be here. Have to save the world..."

"You're saving the world from me right now, so I think you have that covered," Billy said, though he was pretty sure she was going a little loopy. Grabbing another pillow he repeated the movement, his hand lingering on her leg for an extra few seconds.

"Hey Martha," he said, because he sure as hell wasn't going to go near the eye compliment, "If someone was starting to feel funny because they broke their ribs, what would you do?"

She looked up when she felt his hand on her leg. It distracted her from the pain. A tiny bit. And then the hand left and he was asking her a question. This one was easy. "Treat for shock. Stabilize blood pressure."

"... well you have blanket," Billy stated, because that also helped with shock. Stabilizing blood pressure he wasn't as familiar with. "I... How would you stabilize blood pressure?" he asked- simple questions seemed to be the best idea right now.

That was a more difficult question for some reason. "You... the... I don't know." She looked at him. "Why don't I know Billy?"

"Probably because-" you're in shock- died on his lips. No, that wasn't a good thing to say. That would help the situation. "Because it's a hard question?" he tried, sitting back down and shuffling through his mental catalog of random crap he didn't think would ever be useful.

"You're okay," he muttered more to himself than Martha, reaching for her hand. Some part of his brain thought that maybe it would help.

Tears were coming again. "Billy? Don't let go," she pleaded as she held his hand. "I think I'm going to pass out..." she added in a whisper as blackness started creeping at the edges of her vision.

No, no, Billy wasn't going anywhere because he was too busy staying right where he was and panicking . There were drugs that he could give her, but he wasn't sure where to get them from and everything else he knew about everything was incredibly useless at the moment.

"Martha, don't," he pleaded, "Just, take a steady breath and try and relax?" he tried to coach, wishing his voice was more calm and even.

Swallowing, he slid off the bed so he could kneel next to it, holding Martha's hand and getting closer. "Just... relax," he breathed, reaching up to brush her hair delicately away from her face.

Her eyes tracked him as he moved, and her head followed eyes closing when he brushed away her hair. "They couldn't kill me in the real world. Even when they tried," she began. She couldn't feel the pain anymore. The whole area had gone curiously numb. "No one thought to break my ribs, or other bones. They would have captured me much easier."

She blinked a few times to try and get the black to go away.

"They can't kill you now," he said stubbornly, squeezing her hand. No, this didn't bode well, it didn't bode well at all.

And, what the hell had she gone through before that she was even saying this stuff.

"Martha," he called again, "Don't leave." He was getting desperate.
