Janeway tried not to look concerned. There had to be a reason why Julian was not answer his door. Something in the back of her mind nagged at her that she was suppose to know this...the sleep aid though was probably the reason why she wasn't recalling quite so well.
"Do we need to go to such drastic measures?" She asked.
Jack gave an easy shrug. "Up to you," he said. "But the hotel always fixes it up afterwards, so it's not like he'd be left without a door." He chuckled. "Well, unless the hotel felt mischievious."
Jack didn't draw his gun. He didn't even put down his beer. In his experience, if someone wasn't in their room they had either disappeared or they were elsewhere in the building. Only the former was sinister, but you still couldn't defend yourself against.
He stepped, then gave the door a good, solid kick, causing it to swing inwards, noisily hitting the wall.
He stepped inside ahead of the admiral and glanced around. The bed was empty and properly made, but Julian's things were still inside the room. He looked at Janeway and made a sweeping gesture for her to enter.
Janeway took a deep breath and walked in, wary as she did. Julian's suite looked completely undisturbed. Everything was for the most part as he had left it when she could last recall being there. The only things that stood out to her was the absence of the medical bag in the kitchenette and the presence of the doctor himself.
"His medical bag isn't here." Janeway noted, hand still on the hilt of her phaser. She scanned the sitting room first and looked into the living area before turning to confront the door that lead off to the bedroom.
She already felt like a trespasser for having broken into the room with the captain's assistance. Now a cold chill ran through the whole of her being. Janeway walked up to the door and clasped the knob, waiting for just a moment before turning it and stepping in. Her other hand had tightened to white knuckles around the holstered phaser.
Janeway reached out and turned on the lights. The bed was vacant, completely undisturbed.
Janeway stepped back out of the room and closed the door behind her to come stand in the sitting area. She passed her eyes back over the rest of the suite, finding her attention kept coming back to the kitchenette and the missing medical bag.
"I...choose to sleep in my quarters tonight..." Janeway said, trying to focus on what was beyond the fuzzy parts of her memory. "I needed too because I felt silly staying here but..." She blew out a breath through her nose in frustration. "There was some other reason."
The admiral looked back at the captain. "If his bag isn't here, then he must gone to see a patient."
"He wouldn't tell me even if I could think straight right now." Janeway muttered. "Doctor patient confidentiality. So it looks as if it might be the most reasonable explanation." She put her hands on her hips and sighed. "I'm sorry for dragging you into this. I'm all just worked up with what happened and the nightmares."
She walked towards Jack and looked up at him. "And now we've broken down the door on wild goose chase." Janeway admitted. "I shouldn't keep you here all night. I'll wait for the doctor to return. It isn't right to leave his quarters unlocked like this."
"You shouldn't keep yourself here all night," Jack told her. "The hotel isn't going to fix the door if you're sitting here watching it. Go back to your room. Or go downstairs and get a glass of hot cocoa. Go for a swim. Whatever. But sitting here in the dark watching the door not get fixed isn't going to help anyone."
Janeway gave Jack a level look as if to say 'Do I really need to explain' and said after a moment, "Dukat let himself into my quarters three nights ago. He took nothing, but read my log." She reached up and absently rubbed at her left ear and neck, trying to ward off the phantom sensation of the Cardassian's whispered query. To anyone looking, it was simply an attempt to take care of a pesky itch.
"He has a considerable amount of information now that wasn't his place to know and has already attempted to use it to his advantage."
She was surprised that Jack had decided to stay as well. Janeway turned to watch him go, eyes a little wide. "Captain, if you have some place to be...please don't let me keep you."

Julian wasn't here.
"Where is he?" She asked aloud, confused.

"Well, if we're guarding his room for god knows how long, I'm making coffee," he declared, heading for the mini bar area.
