Who: Castiel, Dean, and Julian Where: Castiel and Dean's Room When: Following dinner after this post What: Castiel can't sleep; Julian brings the alpha-wave inducer to help.
Dean had made short work at concealing every weapon he had on hand. Many of them ended up stashed back in the duffel bags and tucked securely under the beds, a few in the bottom drawer of the dresser towards the middle of the room under several pairs of jeans. The herbs and all manner of assorted brick-n-brack that came with hunting though was a lot more difficult to conceal. He packed them away into desk drawers, a few things in the closet, and under the bathroom sink

Not understanding the reference, Julian answered honestly. "Umm ... not much? He shrugged his shoulders and stood there waiting for Dean to let him in.
Castiel watch Dean stow every weapon in the place. Having been under the impression Dean and Julian were friends he wasn't sure why Dean was taking that precaution. He was aware hunters didn't tend to trust other hunters but Castiel had found doctors made trustworthy friends though he couldn't assume all were the same and he knew little about Julian beyond the fact Dean liked his company. The while think didn't make complete sense to the angel but he trusted Dean. He simply hoped the precautions would prove unnecessary

Dean looked back at the angel and then back at Julian, his expression placid at best. "Watch the salt." He warned and opened the door to permit the doctor in.
Julian nodded and made his way over to Castiel's bed with the device. He punched some numbers into the unit and hit some buttons before addressing the angel.
"I know you don't normally sleep for eight hours, but I recommend at least that long since your body is clearly reading as being human on my tricorder. I'd prefer you try and get an even ten hours in, but that is entirely up to you. No matter how long you choose, I will set the device to ease you awake when you'd like and I'll remain here with you the entire time. After that, I'd like to do another scan with the tricorder and assess your condition."
Julian noticed Castiel still looked a little tense and he placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Try and relax if you can. It also helps if you will get into your favorite sleeping position after I place the device on your forehead."
Castiel thought for a moment. He had found, when dealing with his body, it was more efficient to follow the advice of an expert in it's care. It made his choice obvious. "I wish to sleep for the recommended ten hours." He settled in the bed, laying on his back to ease access for the doctor.
He was sure the doctor meant his hand to be comforting, still, he tensed a little under it, shifting uncomfortably. As accustomed as he was to the small touches Dean occasionally planted on him he still barely tolerated contact with others. Still, he didn't push Julian away or ask him to remove his hand. It was barely of enough consequence to bother. "Will I dream?" he asked, his voice edged in tension.
Dean kept a constant vigil, drinking his beer in quiet observation of the scene before him. He was trusting Julian not to screw with the angel. He hoped he had made the right decision in letting this happen.
He saw the tension in the angel and said very calmly. "I'm not going anywhere, Cas. I'll be right here the whole time." He said, hoping to convey that without having to walk across the room and put a reassuring hand on the angel's shoulder to prove it. He didn't want to get in Julian's way.
Julian pulled his hand off of Castiel's shoulder so that he could place the alpha-wave inducer on his forehead. As he held the device in both hands, he gave the angel a confident and reassuring smile.
"That's a good question. The inducer will definitely put you in the stage of sleep that will allow you to dream. Whether or not you do dream is up to you. If you normally do, then you probably will. But you can feel confident knowing that if the inducer senses you are having a nightmare or disturbing dream based on your brain wave patterns, it will ease you into a lighter stage of sleep where you won't dream. The rest will not be as restorative, but you won't have to suffer through a nightmare."
Julian placed the inducer on Castiel's forehead without activating it. "Remember that Dean and I will be here the entire time. I will be monitoring your vital signs. If you become distressed or start to try and leave the bed, I can wake you with no ill effects. Are you ready?"
