"I'm sure I'll come up with something suitable on my own," she retorted with a cheeky grin.

"I hope you do," he replied. "I'm sure you will."

Dawn just laughed lightly in response. "But until that, I should be going," she said climbing to her feet, picking up her book to take with her. "I need to check in with my sister before dinner. She get's twitchy if we don't touch bases enough, and a twitch slayer isn't good for anyone," she explained with a roll of her eyes at what she percieved to be the overprotectiveness of her sister.

"You're a bit old for playing the baby sister, aren't you?" Jareth suggested. "What will she do if you don't?" he asked mischievously.

"You're preaching to the teenage choir," she replied with a put upon sigh. "I mean really, how much trouble can I get in, when I'm trapped in a hotel," she added in what some adults in her life would recognize as famous last words. Especially with her penchant for finding trouble where ever she went.

"But she is the slayer and a big sister, I'm pretty sure she has taken classes in coming up with cruel and unusual ways of making my life very unhappy when she's mad at me."

"More unhappy than imprisonment is already making you?" he questioned. "More unhappy than your secrets on days when they gnaw at your insides?"

"Clearly, you have never met my sister," Dawn replied with complete seriousness.

"No," Jareth replied. "I've never had that pleasure."

He stood. "It's a pity you must leave so soon," he remarked. "We must talk again. Perhaps we could dine together at some point."

"Well I eat three times a day," she replied, "so I'm sure we could make that happen."

"It was nice meeting you nameless king of the goblins," she said with a grin, remembering the manners her mother instilled in her.

"The pleasure was mine, Secret Keeper," he told her with a bow. "Take care."

Dawn gave him an awkward little head bob in return. "You too!" she called before bouncing out of the library.
