With a second pop of sprung metal, the hood released from the frame and came up, exposing the beating heart of the Impala to the open air of the garage. Dean felt his lips pull up as he gazed down at the engine, being one of the few things he managed to actually save to a certain degree from the crash. Oh it needed a few parts to put her back together right, but much of the original was still there.
"She's over 40 years old." Dean tried not to gush. But he smirked at the memory of standing in the car lot in 1967 with his dad. His son, not even a twinkle in his eyes at the time, had.
"I rebuilt her in 2006 after a crash. Took a semitruck to the passenger side. She needed a whole new frame and a lot of body work. But that is about most of the original engine in there." Dean explained. "It was some mercy the truck didn't hit higher on the front end."
