Making a cake for my English class tomorrow brought back a lot of memories. I used to bake all the time when I was younger but got out of the habit.
So while waiting for the buttercream to chill in the fridge (hell yes) I decided to compile this list.

Life Lessons I Have Learned When Baking

# A little bit of grease goes a long way.
# It's not worth sitting next to the oven door for 20 minutes in anticipation, you might be disappointed with the result.
# Even so, more often than not it's putting the effort into making something that gives you the most satisfaction, not the quality of what you produce.
# Beating things is a wonderful form of stress release. Eating whatever you've beaten also helps.
# Give yourself a generous margin of error at all times.
# Lay the groundwork as much as possible. Preheat the oven, soften the butter, sieve the flour. A bit of extra attention to detail at the beginning can pay off later.
# Recipe books have their place, and it is a limited one.
# Doing it the easy way is for wimps. Real women are all about the sweat, blood, tears and wooden spoons as opposed to whisks.
# Don't be afraid to seek advice from your mother.
# Don't make a mess you're not prepared to clean up.
# Everything is better when you add sprinkles and food colouring to it.
