Biggest turn on? Breathing.

Johnny Depp is to credit for the title of this entry. Some more quotes:

"I am indeed but a wanderer, a pilgrim on earth. But are you anything more?" - Goethe

"You put in a little raw material called food; various machines in the body go to work on it; and the final product that comes out of the other end is... shit! Man is a perfect little shit-factory. Pity there's no market for the stuff, we could all be capitalists." - Petri

"'Do you believe,' asked Candide, 'that men have always massacred each other, as they do today? That they have always been liars, cheats, and robbers; unreliable, ungrateful, weak, fickle, lazy, envious, greedy, drunken, avaricious, ambitious, violent, debauched, fanatical, hypocritical, stupid, and with nothing good to say for each other?' 'Do you think,' asked Martin, 'that hawks have always eaten pigeons when they've had the chance?'" - Voltaire

"On the other hand, the Christian religion is so uncertain and ambiguous, that there is scarcely a single passage which, in all the history of the world, has been interpreted in the same way by two men." - Lessing

I've been keeping track this quarter when something strikes me as interesting. It's rare, but it happens.

The past week was an interesting one. Tuesday night, I had a mid-quarter frustration attack during a thwarted attempt to start my fiction final piece, so I ended up tossing and turning, sitting at my computer and writing pages of nonsense, lathering, rinsing, and repeating. Last night, however, I was able to get two or three pages of really good stuff out, and I got another done today. So I'm getting closer to completion. I'll post it, eventually.

Erin and I walked 9 miles yesterday. I'm sure she hates me for it, but despite the exhaustion, it was a fun walk. I'm considering quitting capoeira for the rest of the quarter, for many reasons. The most important being that it's no longer fun or something I look forward to. Wednesdays are just too busy this quarter.

Rock climbing continues to improve. I finished 4 new climbs on Friday... 2 V0's, a 5.9, and a 5.6 (that was probably a 5.7+ with my height). Good times. Still working on the 5.10b. I'll have it soon.

Other than this, my week-long birthday celebration begins next weekend at home, complete with yummy Wheel of Life dinner and hopefully some neat presents. It continues the following weekend with Erin coming down for the actual day. Hoping for some good times all around.

I went back and re-read some of my high school writing while looking for a particular passage that seems to have gone missing. It always surprises me when I find things I've written but don't remember. I like to pretend I could still summon the emotions I felt then, but I know deep down that I probably can't.

Hope all is well in Michigan, Lithuania, and home.
