sorry for using profanities... but these two custom officiers were royal b*tches.
I went with my sister to shop in the states yesterday, and when we came back, we declared our goods at $300USD (two coach bags approx. 100 each, two pairs of shoes approx. 75 total, and some tshirts around 20 total).
First, we got charged $82CDN. That was already really hefty. And I believe they charged the fees wrong. How can they tax on tax??? we already got charged ~10% tax from washington, then the canadians take their tax on the total and not the subtotal??? Is it even legal to tax on tax??? plus, they charged customs on a pair of gloves I bought just cuz it's from coach, but shouldn't that be under women's apparel and exempt from the 10.5% duty??? So... if u think about it, when you buy a purse from the states, you're getting dinged with 35% tax and fees (10% from washington, 7% PST, 6% GST, and 10.5% duty). Gees...
To add the frosting to the cake, the b*tches were the rudest ppl I have ever met. why were they even working as a team??? They searched our car (and just threw our stuff around), searched our bags, made my sister take off her jacket and turn her pockets inside out, AND interrogated us. they were only shy of strip searching us. wtf.
Honestly, this is the first time we have declared so much stuff, hence the first time we got pulled over to the customs shed. But this is by far, 100 fold, the WORSE time I have ever had crossing the border. I think their method is all wrong, sending the message that you will be penalized for being honest and declaring your goods. Plus, they use intimidating tactics to scare you into giving up your human rights. Honestly, I was too scared to even stand up for myself. this is bad.
