So, with LJ's latest change in commenting formats, there has been a lot of talk about moving some communities to other sites. Personally, I have an account on Dreamwidth, as well as InsaneJournal, so I'm willing to put up a "mirror community" of sorts on either in the event people would like to move. But before I do, I wanted to check with the ( Read more... )

It's very similar to LJ's original format in terms of posting or commenting. If you've ever used Greatest Journal when it was around, it's essentially the same. Likewise, Dreamwidth is fairly similar as well.

Completely understandable, which is why I'm opening up discussion for a possible move or at least a partial move, in order to allow our members a place to post.

For those unaware, here are some additional links regarding LJ's latest changes:

I don't know if you watch the LJ newsletter, but here's what they said in a bolded paragraph right after telling us how great the newest version is:

Rest assured, we are paying close attention to all of your feedback. Problems with actual functionality (inability to use the new form or aspects of it, slow load times, crashes, etc) have been reported and are being worked on. We're also aggregating all your feedback about the presentation and usability of the commenting form in the general sense, including items missing from the previous version, and the appropriate project teams are reviewing this feedback to help guide what further changes will be made. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work on the new commenting system.

I haven't been around here nearly as long as you have, but if I had a guess I'd say that's a bunch of bullshit empty rhetoric. I wonder if they've pulled it before. Have they ever listened to negative feedback from anyone, and actually changed something ( ... )

Personally speaking as someone who's had an LJ acct since 2004, I've seen the LJ staff practically avoid taking responsibility for any issues caused by updates or things like that. After LJ was purchased by Six Apart, and even more so after operations were moved to Russia, there have been complaints about lack of proper customer service. Mileage may very for people, but there have generally been a good amount of complaints to various places like the lj-releases community, news, and other places that have gone without recognition.

That said, I will be staying on LJ, if only to maintain communities I'm mod of. Therefore, I will continue to maintain PTDC, regardless of site changes, so long as there are members who wish to post.
