Yu-Gi-Oh fan fic help
Hello, I’m new here and this is my first post and I need a little help. I’m at the very beginning stages of plotting a Yu-Gi-Oh fic for next year’s NaNo and I need some input on a few subplots and characters. First off this fic I have in mind was inspired by a gift fic that was given to me by my friend aramis_chanfor my birthday last month. It’s a real good fic where Yami Bakura and Seto Kaiba are fighting over a girl. (You can find the fic here). So far this is what I have got written down (as notes go) for the fic.
Main Characters:
Seto Kaiba, Yami Bakura/Ryou Bakura, Marik Ishtar/Yami Marik (???) and Cindy (my OC, but we will get to her later).
Minor Characters:
Yugi Moto/Yami Yugi, Tea Gardener, Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Duke Devlin, Ishizu Ishtar, Odion Ishtar, Mokuba Kaiba, Solomon Moto, Bakura’s dad, Cindy’s family (dad, mom, and two little sisters) and Miho Nosaka, Ms. Chono, and Kaoruko Himekuji from season 0 of Yu-Gi-Oh.
The Main Plot:
Other than a group of teens trying to survive 11th grade and weird (but completely normal in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh) flashbacks and references to the past (I was thinking Europe’s Dark Ages for a change of pace), I can’t really think of any major plots.
The Subplots: (Those, thank god, I have ideas for. ^_^)
- Kaiba and Yami Bakura slowly fall for the new girl aka Cindy (Please don’t start flaming till you hear me out), but they have no idea till it’s way too late. They become friends with her at first till Bakura finds out that Kaiba is a rival for Cindy’s affections.
- Cindy is a new exchange student from America who’s life have been made more complicated since her family upped and moved to Domino, Japan. First she is unwillingly to be in 11th grade a lot longer than normal (she is already in 11th grade when she moves and was suppose to go to 12th grade in September of that year if her family stayed in the US, but unfortunately the new school year starts in April in Japan). Second she hates the fact that she has to go to school on Saturdays (even though it’s always a half day). And she hates her school uniform (she is a Goth/Emo girl and prefers to wear black and other Goth/Emo influenced styles to school). Third, she sees herself as an outcast and loner; and during her very unsuccessful tying to be unnoticed she catches the attention of Seto Kaiba an Yami Bakura as well as Kaoruko Himeluji (who is the most popular girl at Domino High and who has been trying for over a year to get Bakura and Kaiba to pay attention to her to no avail) who sees Cindy as a weirdo, a freak, an a threat to her getting Kaiba and Bakura.
- Marik Ishtar transfers to Domino High later in the school year (during 2nd semester), he and Cindy become good friends and nothing more, but Kaiba and Yami Bakura don’t see that, Kaiba and Yami Bakura are too consumed with a green eyed monster to see that.
- Joey and Kaiba (by some miracle) become good, close friends. How, you might say. Well I want Joey to say something to Kaiba about having a really good idea to get Cindy that makes Kaiba realize that Joey isn’t such a dweeb after all and Kaiba ends up asking Joey’s help to get Cindy away from Bakura and Marik.
- Duke and Tristan with their rivalry with Serenity being the corner stone of their wacky friendship and their mutual dislike for Kaiba they decide to help Marik and Bakura get Cindy. More precisely Duke helps Bakura while Tristan helps Marik.
- Yugi/ Yami Yugi and Tea end up befriending Cindy but also seem to be the only ones to witness and experience the strange things happening in Domino, while everyone else is so oblivious to what is going on till it’s almost too damn late.
Anywho, this fic starts right after Battle City, which makes it an AU (but what Yu-Gi-Oh fic isn’t an AU in one form or another) and now for the help part. I need Kaiba and Joey to have something to start building their friendship on. I’m thinking with their mutual hatred for Marik during Battle City and with Yami Bakura being Yami Bakura I think that is a good start. Then there is the Duke and Tristan thing. I was thinking of them making a contest out of it with the one who gets Bakura or Marik hooked with Cindy wins and the winner will have Serenity as a girlfriend. So any positive feedback an ideas that anyone has will be most appreciated?
