Was running errands this morning, took Toast to the vet for final kitten shots, and got Kettle checked out when I was there too as she's been limping since the ice storm - probably strained something, slipping on the icy yard, but it's been several weeks and she was still limping. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with Kettle's leg, and she was actually barely limping at all at the vet (of course, lol).
Stopped by Taco Bell on the way home for some lunch, and while waiting in the drive through lane, a car pulled in to the parking lot perpendicular to the lane, lady floored the gas instead of the brake and her car went flying up over the curb and smashed into the front of mine! Kitty & doggie seem fine, and I'm ok, mostly, although I'll probably be pretty sore tomorrow, but car is not :( The whole front side was buckled in, windshield smashed, front tire on the other side smushed sideways against the curb, ominous scorchy smells before I turned off the engine. She got some speed going there, it was a pretty good smash up. It's a '98 RAV4 with 200,000+ miles on it, so I'm pretty sure it's totaled - durnit - it's been such a good car!
Lady is fine, too, was obviously horrified and guilt-stricken and very upset about it - I think she and her husband were from Burma? Didn't speak much English, but their son lived nearby and came to translate for the police. Poor lady, I've been there - many years ago I accidentally ran a red light (it was a downtown with a bunch of traffic lights all in a short distance, and I was watching the next light down, which was green. Not the light in front of me, which was...not green.) Just a fender bender, no one was hurt, but there was a kid in the other car and...yeah.
Even though I blocked their drive through lane for about 30 minutes, until the tow truck got there, Taco Bell came out and gave me my order for free. Most of which I gave to Kettle, who was a little traumatized, lol, but she appreciated it ^^
Whew. Quite a morning! *flops*
