So after I got those expensive but nifty non-pierced hoop earring thingies, I found essentially the same thing on Etsy for...$2. *facepalm* These are thinner, which I actually like better for my smaller earrings, and the Lisadora ones still work better for the chunkier earrings, so not sorry I have them. They come in a few sizes, but the 25mm were ( Read more... )

I see them in the park all the time - we've got several nest boxes there - but these are the first in my own yard! :D

Yay birdies!
I've been wearing ALL the earrings \o/

I kind of like the quiet, despite the uneasy wondering if someone's going to break in to the empty house one night and get up to Things. It's a huge and lovely yard, with three magnificent old red oak trees - if I had the money I'd buy the lot, tear down the house, and make it my own nature preserve.

Thanks for the links for the hoop-earings.
I do want to own (and wear) earings, but piercing my ears has never appealed to me.
So, these loops might be the very thing I was looking for - and I never knew it.

Glad to hear you have some bluebirds nesting in your yard!
Very good picture of the little nestlings.
(And ninja-stealth tactics are very interesting.
Hmmm. I wonder how many visitors to my yard I have that I never know about cause they don't sing or caw to announce their presence/dominion over ideal nesting spots).

The hoops are pretty sweet - I've tried various clip-on earrings before, and they always start to hurt and pinch, but these are pretty comfortable, although I notice the heavier earrings start to bother me after awhile.

Bluebirds in my yard mean I'm definitely doing something right, wildlife habitat-wise :D I'm happy the picture of the babies turned out so well considering I couldn't really see what I was doing - the nest box is high enough I just had to hold my phone up and aim it at what I hoped was the right spot.

Some birds get pretty secretive around their nests - I suspect I may also have a blue jay nest somewhere in the front yard, but haven't found it yet.
