Picspam! Hot off the grill
Kettle suspiciously sniffing my second-newest resident, a yellow-bellied slider someone brought us at the park. Poor thing had been living in the washbin she arrived in in our office - we don't have anything big enough for her at work, so I brought her home last week.
Set turtle up in Kettle's wading pool, with an old planter with a board over it for some shade and a cinder block for basking - lots of room to swim!
I love it when turtles stick out their legs when they bask :)
Every morning when we go out, Kettle has to check if the turtle is still there XD
Close up! This is the water after a week under a very fruitful walnut tree (the nuts and leaves turn the water dark brown).

Poor dead opossum, so sad. (Don't worry - he's totally faking ^_~). Little guy rubbed his nose raw in a live trap, so he's my newest resident until he heals up and I can let him go.

Spicebush swallowtail caterpillar - the big dark eyes are fake; they're just supposed to make the caterpillar look scary to predators.
