Scofield and Burrows catch up to him in Tooele.
(He has a map leading -- indirectly, but leading nonetheless -- to five million dollars folded and tucked in the waistband of his boxers.
The boys are too trusting, he guesses, to search him there.)
They ask where the map is, and he tells them Tweener took it.
When Lincoln frisks him and doesn't find it, they believe his story.
(He could get a fucking Oscar for this shit.)
And then they throw him in the trunk of their car.
-
He spends his time in the trunk memorizing the map.
And then he eats it.
When Michael gets back, he takes great relish in eating the last shred of paper in front of the boy genius's eyes.
(don't worry -- before i destroyed it, it committed to it my photographic memory. i'd have tattooed it to my body, but i didn't have the time.)
-
They ask him once what happened to his hand.
After all, it wasn't attached to him the last time they saw him.
(i got some work done.)
-
The group is meant to be looking at a relatively clear space, with a grain silo standing on top.
What the area is now is a subdivision.
-
They find the house that's supposedly sitting over five million dollars within the next hour.
The only problem is that it's occupied.
The woman inside is a pretty thing, blonde and dressed almost exclusively in an Asian floral-print robe.
Michael notices the look on T-Bag's face as they wait for their fourth member -- Tweener -- to return with uniforms from the garden center.
(i was only looking, pretty. what's that old chestnut? i can look at the menu, doesn't mean i'm going to eat.)
-
Michael shouldn't be surprised when it's T-Bag who volunteers to keep the lady of the house distracted.
He almost refuses, but they can't spare anyone else.
He lets the other man off with a warning.
T-Bag spits back his contempt.
(who are you, sister mary frances? i know how to play nice.)
Needless to say, things don't go well.
-
After some digging, they find the five million dollars buried under the garage, and load it into a backpack.
T-Bag has been planning this bait-and-switch since the beginning.
None of the other men notice.
-
Sucre pulls a gun. The five million are his, he says.
It isn't a minute before he escapes with the backpack.
T-Bag takes the opportunity to slip from the room and back into the garage.
When Michael goes to find him, he isn't there anymore.
-
He is five millions dollars richer.
The other men are richer by several years' worth of National Geographic.
He doesn't know if he's ever been happier.
