I'd never make a good feminist...

It rained this year on Bryn Mawr May Day (first Sunday in May). Actually, I'm sorry. I forgot that "it doesn't rain on May Day," and "this isn't rain"... so "no one got wet."
The Morris, longsword, and garland dancers danced anyway. Musicians had umbrellas held over them. It was great.
There's a Bryn Mawr tradition of the "May Hole" (naturally, the May Pole is too phallic). This tradition is a little impossible to describe. It involves a parachute on the ground (and then in the air), lots of flower petals, Dar Williams being played repeatedly and at a very loud volume, and, of course, lots of Bryn Mawr girls dancing around in white dresses.
Early on in this tradition, there is a symbolic breaking of the patriarchy - with "the patriarchy" being represented as toilet paper. This year, someone put it into my head that one year we should go around with extra toilet paper (or perhaps yellow police "caution" tape?) and re-form the patriarchy. It would be hysterical. Except that all the Bryn Mawr students would hate it and become very offended.
This is why I would never make a good feminist. Also why I would never make a good anthropologist ;) (which amuses me, because the person who put this idea into my head is both). I do, however, very much agree with all who pointed out that "the patriarchy" doesn't really have a problem with lots of college girls dancing around in the rain in skimpy white dresses. Ahhh... Bryn Mawr.
