This was our second time at Eureka. It's a burger joint that specializes in Whiskey. Jess and I arrived 15 minutes early to secure a table and Daryl texted me that he would 20 minutes late and we needed a table for six. While we waited, we ordered a calamari appetizer and the beer sampler. All the beers came from the tap and they were delicious.
When Daryl arrived, we met his wife and her couple friend for the first time. They were all pleasant. The blonde is a hippie with a full sleeve tattoo. She made her way to SLO from San Diego on a whim. Just hopped the train and decided to stop here. She said she's loved it ever since. Her boyfriend seemed a bit older and is a recruiter for various Tech Companies. He was nice, but I couldn't help judging what his true character might be--perhaps sleazy.
Daryl's wife is very sweet and I was extremely relieved. She's Hmong, which I only happen to know of via watching that Clint Eastwood movie. I have no idea what movie at the moment. Daryl ordered the whiskey sampler and being envious of his display I ordered whatever whiskey the server recommended on the rocks. It was fantastic and I felt pretty good.
The conversation was pretty standard with everyone just getting to know each other and a bit of work or school talk. Jessi was pleasant and rarely spoke. I think we were both more observant of other peoples conversation, though Daryl would strike up something with everyone once in a while.
I was pretty toasty when we arrived home. Jess needed her rest for drill and we both retired.
Today, I have just been doing research on various things. I would like Jess to hurry and finish her Bachelors, but the school options here are limited. I am also thinking about going back to school as well for my Masters. I have to prepare for the GRE, which I'm not looking forward to. I'm not entirely sure I want to pursue this, but it's been lingering in my mind as well as many other things.
Working in Europe, having a baby, getting Masters degree, developing my career skill sets, training for 5K's or triathlons (which involve learning official swimming moves).
I wonder if I could do it all?
