As with every festivity which appeals a lot to a Hallmark kind of girl like me, I feel the compelling need to write about what has happened in 2009. For most part of it, it was quite a humdrum blur. You know, the kind of days that have no categories assigned to them. They simply just pass you by. I wish I could say I acquired a new skill (well, in retrospect, I suppose I did pick up several new songs on my guitar), travelled new land, made a wise career decision (or lack thereof) and all that jazzy things people would want to write of upon contemplation of how they have spent the past year.
Mine goes something like this. I completed approximately 3 seasons of Hells Kitchen, 1.5 seasons of 90210, a gazillion other movies, edited so many pictures (and even had all the time to create photo collages for closer friends), learnt how to cook the Basics with a capital B (and also learnt that the holy grail of all food creations are oil and garlic - before I learnt how to cook, I would never have guessed!)... you get my drift. I cannot further expound on how boring it really is in Perth. But for most part of 2009, I fell in love.
Close friends from church whom I've grown up with and have grown to love. It really isn't the same several of them around. But I'm glad they are returning! I vaguely remember this was during a steamboat dinner @ Darryls and I was so full I ended up rolling all over his couch. STEAMBOAT WHEN YOU COME BACK JAS/SAM :)
Ended a short vacation stint @ Propzee, which was heaps of fun while it lasted! Kind of one of the first jobs that allowed me to experience what working with friends instead of colleagues were really like.
Attended Gen and Evans wedding! I remember meeting Gen a year ago when I was new in Perth. She told me she was engaged and the first thing I said was "are you bullshitting me?!?!?!?" She must have thought I was quite the crude one! I've come to know Gen a better during 2009 and really, I've never met anyone so accomodating, assuring and grounded. Thank you for dropping by my house with food when I was holed up crying.
Nurul's 21st at a fancy hotel / one of our many RANDOM meetups/ Flea @ NYP

I've grown a lot closer to nurul in 2009 and I'm truly blessed to have crossed paths with her. From pixels on the screen and perhaps meeting over the most dodgy way possible (God bless the Internet) to what we've become today - I really couldn't ask for a greater sister, a food/makeup/shopping junkie. I love how our texts are so random, how we meet at the 11th hour, or how we have similar tastes for a whole spectrum of things. x
A million gatherings in Perth... it's really these people that buoy you in times of boredom, times of happiness, darkness and need.
