Dan Simmons rules

I went on a massive music downloading spree this evening in anticipation of driving cross-country. Gems I'm looking forward to working into my playlists: Captain Planet theme, Eddie Money - Baby Hold On, Seal - Kiss From a Rose, The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon, and healthy doses of Van Morrison and Tom Jones. I found a huge mass of 60's and 70's compilations, great for those too lazy to actively think up things to look for.

I have a test and a paper that is due on monday, as well as a major project to do by tuesday. At this point though, I could probably stop going to both of my classes and still get the D's that I need to graduate. Neither one of them is very challenging, but both are rather time consuming. Because my time is so valuable when spent...doing nothing?

I can feel myself getting very restless with the end of my Athens days upon me. I'm not sure if it's because of impending responsibility or anticipation or what, but it's been a definite presence in the back of my mind all week.

So I was wondering on monday when Dan Simmons' new book was due to come out. Upon checking his website I was delighted to see...that it came out on tuesday. Naturally I picked it up on said Tuesday...I don't think it's possible for me to say no to well-written space-operatic fiction based on The Iliad and The Odyssey. Also of interest on his website however were the notes that Darren Aronofsky is working on Song of Kali (which totally kicks ass) and that Hyperion is under development by "a major studio" or some such.

I downloaded a bunch of Electric Six songs off of Dumbrella last week and the song Dance Epidemic has been constantly stuck in my head. I count this as a Good Thing.
