Getcher red-hot mini-comics
here! Two minis, totalling nine Platt short stories, for five bucks, including postage. Supplies are limited, so act now!
I'm still flying high after a week at the
Center for Cartoon Studies. Rarely have I encountered an event so enjoyable, so creative, and so overwhelmingly positive. Really, I would have come out this creatively super-charged even if all I could draw was stick figures.
Huge thanks need to go out to the instructors, all of whom displayed great talent and encouragement:
Steve Bissette (best known for his work on Swamp Thing, and an amazing teacher),
Jon Chad (the mad god of mini-comics),
Robyn Chapman (who organized the whole thing),
Alec Longstreth (the bearded wonder),
Jason Lutes (he who shall be listened to, for he knows all about comics), and
Jose Luis Olivares (a mixed-media mastermind).
Not all of the students finished their pojects during the course of the week, but not everyone was trying to. Several are still there this week, finishing up an "extended studio" period, while others are working on projects that are just too big to tackle in five or seven days. I'll post links to most of their websites tomorrow.
I don't know what CCS has planned for next summer, but I would dearly love to attend another seminar there. We'll see what the future holds!
