“Jonghyun. We’re going to freeze to death.” The barely stifled grin on his face gave lie to his serious tone, though.
“I’m not giving you my scarf.”
“You’re the worst!” Kibum pulled his hat further down onto his head as Jonghyun grabbed his wrist, starting to pull him along the snowy sidewalk.
Kibum slipped one hand into his own pocket, the other into Jonghyun’s. Between the two of them they managed not to fall on the increasingly slippery streets, hips bumping as they swayed, balance precarious.
“Carry me. I’m too tired to go on.” Kibum leaned more heavily on Jonghyun, sending them both staggering to toward the street.
“No!” Jonghyun shoved him, fortunately righting their course before they wandered out in front of traffic.
“You’re still the worst!”
Everything seemed impossibly quiet, especially after the raucous clamor of the bar. The two boys walked along in comfortable closeness, the silence broken only by the occasional drunken giggle from Kibum.
They were about halfway home when Jonghyun seemed to recognize something, and he took off at a run, nearly pulling Kibum off his feet in his excitement. His destination seemed to be a small park or playground-it was hard to tell in the dim orange glow of streetlights reflecting off the snow-because suddenly Jonghyun stopped, faster than Kibum expected, and they both went down in a tangle of limbs in the snow.
“I hate you.” Kibum’s voice was muffled, his mouth pressed against Jonghyun’s scarf.
“Get off. You’re heavy.” Jonghyun shoved at him. “Gonna make a snow angel.”
He lay in the snow, arms and legs flailing wildly in the powdery snow. Kibum crouched next to him, arms crossed.
“That doesn’t look like an angel.”
“Shut up.”
“Why are we here? It’s late…we’re definitely going to freeze to death. I’m going to write my will.” He shivered, feeling the snow melting through his fashionably not-warm jacket. “And I’m giving everything to Minho.”
Jonghyun ignored the annoyed rant, lost in his own world.
“Used to come here all the time. When I could get away.” He stood, brushing the melting snow off his clothes and ruining his artistic endeavors entirely, offering a hand to Kibum, and they fell into each other as he made it to his feet. Jonghyun took the fall and ran with it, bringing Kibum along and planting him down into a swing.
“You’re drunk. You need to sit.” He gripped the chains on either side of Kibum’s head, the swing lurching with the sudden unsteady weight.
Kibum bit back a giggle, then nodded slowly, almost emphatically. “Yes. Jonghyun…” He dissolved into giggling then, covering his mouth with one hand and gripping the front of Jonghyun’s jacket with the other. “I’m really drunk. And,” he continued, releasing his grip on the coat in favor of shaking an accusatory finger at the older boy, “so are you.”
“Never.” Jonghyun grinned, moving around behind Kibum before grabbing the chains again, pulling back, and releasing with a push.
“Jjong-what are-“ Kbum’s eyes went wide, fingers in a death grip on the chains.
“I’m pushing you!”
The swing went higher and higher, taking Kibum with it until he felt like he was flying, errant snowflakes hitting his face and melting on contact. He closed his eyes, leaned into the movement and the passing warmth of Jonghyun’s hands on his back. After a few minutes Jonghyun stopped, flopping down into the adjacent swing.
Kibum came to a stop slowly, boots dragging in the snowy gravel until he was just swaying. After a moment he stood, still unsteady, and moved until he stood directly in front of Jonghyun.
“Thank you.” He leaned forward, rested a hand on Jonghyun’s shoulder to steady himself, and impossibly, a snowflake got caught between their lips.
“Huh?” Jonghyun looked up at him, his expression puzzled.
“You make me feel like I’m flying.”
Jonghyun smiled softly before pulling him down to kiss him, hard, and for a moment neither of them noticed how cold they were.
A second later Jonghyun tumbled backward, once again pulling Kibum down on top of him, having lost his grip on the chains.
“I hate you. So much.”
“I love you too.”
A/N I started writing this in my notebook at a bar while drinking hot toddies on what was, apparently, national hot toddy day. My new favorite holiday btw. Anyways, so I managed to decipher my horrible drunken handwriting, and this is what came of it! Very short and silly, I know orz
