I am stealing this activity from a recent acquaintance of mine:

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. (my count = 25 read)
2) Italicise those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ

1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien
3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte ( Read more... )

Your list is interesting: it looks quite a bit like mine!

I am not surprised there are a lot of similarities between our lists. A lot of these books are classics (and often required reading in school). Also, you have good taste in book. :)

Have you wandered over to LibraryThing yet? I LOVE to read! Finished Maria Coffey's latest book this afternoon: EXPLORERS OF THE INFINITE. She's one of my very fave authors.

Link to several of Maria's works:

Coffey looks like an interesting author. I will have to look into her work. I went over to LibraryThing, but I have not had time to really get into it. When I do have a decent library set up I will let you know.

I signed on to LT for some months before I really began to use it. Pls let me know when you have your library set up there -- I would enjoy browsing through it.

If you look at our books you'll note the preponderance of climbing/mountaineering lit. Maria Coffey was the girlfriend of Joe Tasker when he & Peter Boardman disappeared on Everest's NE Ridge in 1982; her books tend to center around adventure & climbing.

Maria is no kook. We are acquainted with quite a few of the climbers she interviewed -- and none are crazies either. Several of our good friends (not in the book) are elite Himalayan/high-altitude climbers; both Roskelley & States have both experienced multiple inexplicable premonitions, even when not at altitude. This is a difficult, fascinating, complex subject but Maria, true to form, handled it very well.
