burning this city

rob the fox, hollypie, scary mary

the night was spent twirling, writhing through jewel-lit lights and smokey people. i wore a white vintage lace dress with pearls and chains and combat boots with fishnet stockings. red lips and glitterign jewels dotted on the curls around my dark-lidded eyes. i felt rather fancy. a beautiful gypsy girl with dangly earrings and a pretty corset told me everyone had been talking about my dress all night. i tore it up a bit, though, with my spinning and stomping. it was alexx's last night as dj, and i felt genuinely slightly heartbroken. he played franz and interpol and joy division and sisters of mercy.

rob and i did some mad thing in which we randomly, out of nowhere, pretended to have just met. realising we both knew jenny, that we both loved sparks, and that we were musicians/writers/etc. i completely convinced myself i had just met him. madness. this went on for over an hour, and it was so surreal and strange. romantic in such an odd way. you should do it sometime.

after ceremony, we drove back along the parkway out of the city and went to king's. i wore rob's boy trousers and ate pancakes. it's nights like those that make relationships with people worth having. during alexx's last song, i was dancing surrounded by four of my best friends, smiling and spinning and feeling like everything was on fire.
